On Tuesday, April 14, some new Wastelanders update. The saga of Fallout 76 has been long and grim, but if Wastelanders shakes out to be as good as many are expecting, there might just be a distant light and the end of the tunnel. The update brings a host of new additions to Fallout 76, nearly all of which have been long-requested by fans and are considered essential elements for any Fallout game worth its salt. NPCs, dialogue options, human settlements, and deep quest lines are all coming to Fallout 76 thanks to the free update.

While Fallout 76 launched without any of these features, publisher Bethesda had hoped that the addition of C.A.M.P.s would make up for them. These C.A.M.P.s are player-made bases which can be highly customized with shops and other tools for roaming players to use. Based on the base-building aspect of Fallout 4, the C.A.M.P.s have been one of the few saving graces of Fallout 76, at least for the percentage of players who are interested in building bases.

The Wastelanders update for Fallout 76 is free, but it will nonetheless come at a cost for some players, as detailed in a recent Bethesda blog post. The new settlements and NPC locations will dot the landscape, regardless of whether or not a player's C.A.M.P. has already been placed in that area. Thus, some players will find themselves evicted from their self-made hideouts. Bethesda has released a map (embedded below) which shows players exactly where they can and can't have their C.A.M.P. located once the update hits. The developer has also said these are approximations, and players shouldn't be too close to the edge of the circles below. Check it out here:

To their credit, Bethesda is allowing players to move their C.A.M.P. once, free of charge, before Fallout 76's Wastelanders update drops. At least they're making an effort to make this change as painless as possible for Fallout 76 players who have become particularly attached to their C.A.M.P.s location.

Some players have the bare minimum of necessities in their C.A.M.P., so they can move it often and enjoy wandering Appalachia, defeating enemies, and looting bombed-out buildings, so this update will have little impact on them in of their home base. However, some players have invested countless hours and in-game resources to creating a magnificent base, so it's a nuisance for them to have to relocate. Still, even for displaced players, the potential gains of the Wastelanders update more than outweigh the hassle of having to resettle their base. Fallout 76 fans will get the chance to find out for sure when the free Wastelanders update releases on April 14.
