A modder added Elden Ring’s messaging system produces both hysterics and frustrations.
While exploring the world of Elden Ring, The Tarnished will come into with hoards of enemies, challenging bosses, and interesting NPCs, but they’ll also stumble upon messages left by other players. Very often the messages become confusing, strange, or even dangerous communications due to the limitations FromSoftware placed on the system. Players don’t use a keyboard to formulate a message but rather use a list of words and phrases chosen by the developers. The outcome can lead to messages that are either unhelpful or downright frustrating. Many on social media have even pointed out what’s wrong with Elden Ring’s message system using memes. That said, these messages can also be helpful hints about an area, clues on how to defeat a boss or just an encouraging sentiment for struggling players.

Even in 2022, Fallout: New Vegas has a large fanbase, with modders and dedicated community consistently making content for fans to enjoy. From a huge vehicle mod that added over 100 weapons and drivable vehicles, to a mod that brought back New Vegas’ cut NPCs, there seems to be no end to the features being added to the decade-old RPG. While games like Elden Ring have flashier, modern graphics and greater technological capacities, gamers are still intrigued with the world of New Vegas. That doesn’t mean modders shouldn’t take inspiration from developers. Tomminfinite’s Building Bridges mod does just that, incorporating a popular system from FromSoftware’s successful titles, while simultaneously adding a more in-depth reward system.
Despite the rumors, Fallout: New Vegas 2 is likely still years away. That said, modders continue to add a steady stream of fresh content to the original, as well as modern systems that can help keep the fanbase engaged in Obsidian Entertainment’s beloved game.
