A thread on historical fiction like Assassin's Creed. How many people, American and non, learned the truth about Paul Revere while completing story quests in Assassins' Creed III, for instance?

Instead of revisiting and restructuring the past à la Bethesda Game Studios' first entry in the franchise, s explore parts of Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland in the year 2277. Today, December 1, Reddit  SuperAlloyBerserker asked fellow non-American Fallout fans to list what they have learned about the United States from the popular role-playing franchise. SuperAlloyBerserker started the conversation by revealing that prior to playing Fallout 4, they'd never heard of Salisbury steaks. Several other s in the thread chimed in by similarly noting they, too, learned about steaks of the Salisbury variety from the 2015 Fallout adventure. In addition, some fans described their surprise upon visiting places such as Boston, Vegas, and D.C. that many of these in-game locales so closely resemble their real-life counterparts.

Bethesda last released a Fallout game with 2018's Fallout 76, an online-only title that did not sit well with longtime fans of the brand. Fortunately, a series of post-launch updates and expansions improved the overall experience. But it remains to be seen if such enhancements will see the title ed fondly in the years ahead, especially since it's clear that another new Fallout entry will not hit store shelves for a good long while.
