What Fallout Season 2's Filming Wrap Means For The Series

When Will It Release?

While principal photography is finished, Fallout season 2 is now entering post-production, and there is still a lot of work to be done, including editing and visual effects. In turn, it will still be a while before Prime Video announces a release date, with the actual premiere even further out. For comparison, the first season started shooting in July 2022, wrapped in March 2023, and didn't debut on Prime Video until a full year later in April 2024. If season 2 follows that same timeline, it should premiere around spring or summer 2026.

The ending of Fallout season 1 is suitably climactic, bringing plenty of story reveals, twists, turns, and teases for season 2 along with it.

The second season seems to be running a bit behind schedule since it was scheduled to start filming in November 2024, but didn't begin until early December. While season 1 was shot in New Jersey, New York, and Utah, the second season moved to Los Angeles to take advantage of a $25 million tax incentive offered by California, and unfortunately, filming had to be paused in January 2025 due to the Los Angeles fires. In turn, season 2 has now wrapped in May, instead of in April when it was originally scheduled.

Our Take On Fallout Season 2's Filming Wrap

Production Is Moving At An Impressive Pace

While the wait for Fallout season 2 may seem long, production is moving at an impressive pace, with filming starting the same year season 1 premiered and wrapping a year later. Delivering new seasons every two years is similar to what other prestige series with high production values have done, such as HBO's House of the Dragon or their video game adaptation, The Last of Us. If one is willing to wait patiently, Fallout season 2 should undoubtedly deliver once again.

Fallout season 1 has a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
