10 What Happened To The Ghoul’s Family?

Cooper Howard's season 1 search leads fruitlessly into season 2.

As alluded to, The Ghoul was once called Cooper Howard, an actor working in Los Angeles in the 2070s. After the Fallout show's nuclear apocalypse, the radiation turned Cooper - along with many other people in the United States - into Ghouls. Some Ghouls like Cooper can retain their humanity with the aid of drugs from across the Wasteland, while others turn into mindless monsters. Cooper/The Ghoul is one of the lucky few who has retained his personality for over 200 years, driven by the sole goal of finding his family from before the apocalypse.

At the end of Fallout season 1, Cooper fails to find them and Hank escapes, meaning Fallout season 2 has to reveal the fate of Barb and Janey.

Much of Cooper's backstory surrounds his family: his daughter Janey and wife Barb. Cooper discovers that Barb works for Vault-Tec and was somewhat involved in the orchestrating of a nuclear war to further the company's plans for absolute control of the United States. However, after the nuclear apocalypse, Cooper somehow loses his family and begins tracking down the remnants of Vault-Tec to find them. At the end of Fallout season 1, Cooper fails to find them and Hank escapes, meaning Fallout season 2 has to reveal the fate of Barb and Janey.

9 What Happened To Norm In Vault 31?

Norm's fate is left unanswered in Fallout season 1.

Another subplot of Fallout season 1 involves Norm, Lucy's brother, and his investigation of Vaults 31, 32, and 33. Norm eventually discovers that Vault 31 is filled with employees from Vault-Tec who stored themselves in pods before the Great War. These pods would open systematically to allow Vault-Tec's employees to enter Vaults 32 and 33, breeding with the inhabitants to create a community orchestrated by the organization. Hank, Norm and Lucy's father, was one such employee.

In Fallout season 1's ending, Norm discovers these pods yet is locked in Vault 31. He is told by a remnant of Bud Askins, another Vault-Tec employee, that the only way for Norm to survive is by entering his father's old stasis pod. It is never revealed what happened to Norm, making this a major question that Fallout season 2's story needs to answer about a core member of the show's cast.

8 What Purpose Does New Vegas Play In Fallout’s Story?

Hank's connection to a major video game location will be integral to Fallout season 2.

In the final shots of Fallout season 1, Hank is shown flying away from the New California Republic. He arrives at an unseen location before the camera pans up to reveal New Vegas. New Vegas is the titular location of one of the core games in the franchise, Fallout: New Vegas, begging the question of what important role it will play in the future of Prime Video's TV show. While the Fallout games have different endings depending on player choice, New Vegas was a location that was being fought over by the NCR and several other factions.

As of the end of Fallout season 1, it is unclear what awaits Hank in New Vegas. The Ghoul hinted that there are people above Hank and the denizens of Vault 31 giving orders, teasing more Vault-Tec secrets for Fallout season 2. It seems as though these secrets will be tied to the city of New Vegas, though Fallout season 2 will have to provide these answers.

7 Is The Entire New California Republic Destroyed?

Fallout season 2 must reveal what became of the NCR after Moldaver's death.

The New California Republic's fate needs to be confirmed in Fallout season 2, one way or the other.

In Fallout season 1's ending, Moldaver is killed along with her allies in the Griffith Observatory hideout. This, combined with the destruction of Shady Sands, hints that the New California Republic is all but destroyed. However, one thing Fallout episode 6 and the Fallout games make clear is that the New California Republic was at one point the largest economic and political power in the Wasteland.

Fallout’s New California Republic: History, Timeline & Shady Sands Connection Explained

A major faction of Fallout season 1 is the New California Republic, which has an extensive history within both the show and the original games.

Given the events of Fallout season 1, the NCR's future is uncertain. This makes the fate of the faction one of the more pressing questions that Fallout season 2 needs to answer. Depending on which ending of Fallout: New Vegas is chosen as canon to Fallout's TV show, it could be the case that the NCR has a stronghold in New Vegas. Regardless, the New California Republic's fate needs to be confirmed in Fallout season 2, one way or the other.

6 What Will The Brotherhood Of Steel Do With Their Newfound Power?

The Brotherhood could become a more outright villainous faction in the future of Fallout.

Concerning the Brotherhood of Steel, the faction is now in control of Moldaver's cold fusion reactor. The death of Moldaver and the murder of her NCR allies means the Brotherhood has taken Griffith Observatory and the reactor which is now providing power to the Wasteland. Throughout Fallout season 1, the leaders of the Brotherhood of Steel speak endlessly about taking power from those around them, hinting at a dark future for them and Maximus.

With Fallout season 2, the answer to what becomes of the Brotherhood is required. It could be the case that the Brotherhood uses its newfound power to take the NCR's place in the section of the Wasteland shown in the Fallout TV show. That said, whether they use this power for benevolent or malevolent means remains to be seen, something Fallout season 2 needs to answer.

Fallout season 2 is yet to be officially confirmed, though Deadline reported a $25 million tax credit in California for the production of a continuation.

5 Will Maximus Search For Lucy Or Stay With The Brotherhood?

Maximus' relationship with Lucy may be tested.

Fallout season 2 not only needs to answer what happens to the Brotherhood as a whole but also what becomes of Maximus. The ending of Fallout season 1 saw him raised to the rank of knight after it was mistaken that he killed Moldaver and secured the cold fusion reactor. However, Maximus' story before this point saw him and Lucy pledge to live in peace together in a Vault.

Maximus was warned how difficult leaving the Brotherhood of Steel can be, meaning Fallout season 2 has several questions to answer regarding his fate.

This begs the question of what choice Maximus will make. He could stay with the Brotherhood and embrace his newfound title of knight, helping the faction to further whatever new plans they concoct. Conversely, Maximus could leave and seek out Lucy to live with her as they planned together. However, Maximus was warned how difficult leaving the Brotherhood of Steel can be, meaning Fallout season 2 has several questions to answer regarding his fate.

4 Will The Enclave Seek Retribution For Wilzig’s Betrayal?

Another major Fallout faction is yet to be properly explored.

The character of Doctor Wilzig was integral to Fallout season 1's story. The implant in his head was what made cold fusion possible, though he was working for a faction known as the Enclave. Wilzig betrayed the Enclave in favor of the New California Republic, taking the cold fusion capsule to Moldaver.

Fallout Season 1 Review: Prime Video's Stellar Adaptation Leans Into The Offbeat & The Brutal

Prime Video's long-awaited Fallout TV series adaptation knows its viewers well — and it isn’t afraid to give them a Vault Boy-style wink.

Despite this being a major part of Fallout season 1, it was never revealed what steps the Enclave took to bring Wilzig to justice. The Enclave was almost nonexistent as part of Fallout season 1's story, yet one would think they would try harder to rectify Wilzig's betrayal given the importance of what he stole. Given their lack of presence, it is likely that the Enclave plays a role in Fallout season 2. How they reacted to Wilzig's betrayal could be of importance going forward, providing Fallout season 2 with even more questions to answer.

3 Are Lucy & The Ghoul Allies Now?

The relationship between Lucy and The Ghoul is certainly one of complexity.

Throughout much of Fallout season 1, Lucy and The Ghoul had an antagonistic relationship. The Ghoul was often shown using her for his own gain, caring little about what became of her. While Lucy's inherent goodness saw her more sympathetic to The Ghoul's plight, it would be incorrect to label the two as allies throughout Fallout season 1's story.

That said, the ending of Fallout season 1 saw the two of them embark together on a quest. Lucy ed The Ghoul to follow Hank and uncover more about his Vault-Tec plot, seemingly pinning the two as a team for Fallout season 2. While this is clear enough, Fallout season 2 needs to answer whether they are true allies. Their previously unfriendly history is unlikely to be forgotten, making the question of whether Lucy and Walton Goggins' The Ghoul can become true allies an answer that needs to be provided for Fallout season.

2 Will Vault 32 & 33 Learn The Truth About Vault-Tec?

Vault 31 remains in control over the people of Vaults 32 and 33.

With Norm trapped in Vault 31 at the end of Fallout season 1, the denizens of Vaults 32 and 33 are none the wiser as to how they are being controlled by Vault 31. Similarly, Lucy shows no sign of returning to Vault 33 in the near future, meaning the truth is unlikely to come out anytime soon. As such, a major question Fallout season 2 needs to answer is what becomes of Vaults 32 and 33.

Chet, Lucy and Norm's cousin, is a character who is somewhat aware that something is amiss in Vaults 32 and 33. This could lead to him taking a bigger, more active role in Fallout season 2 and exploring Norm's disappearance. This could be one way Fallout season 2 explores the secrets of Vault-Tec, potentially answering the question of what becomes of Vaults 32 and 33.

All eight episodes of Fallout season 1 are now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

1 Which Other Factions Could Be Introduced In Fallout Season 2?

Fallout is a game franchise with endless factions that could debut in live-action.

Another potential faction that could appear is the Underground, a massive criminal organization that operates out of a town called The Hub in the New California Republic.

Finally, the last major question Fallout season 2 can answer is which other factions will be introduced to the show. From the likes of the Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave to the New California Republic, the factions of Fallout season 1 have been prevalent parts of various Fallout games. That said, the extensive history of Fallout means several major factions are yet to appear, with Fallout season 2 being presented with the opportunity to answer which possibly could in the future.

The involvement of New Vegas in the story of the Fallout TV show could mean that factions from the game of the same name will appear. One such faction is Caeser's Legion, one of the other groups battling for control of New Vegas. Another potential faction that could appear is the Underground, a massive criminal organization that operates out of a town called The Hub in the New California Republic. Whether these factions will appear or not remains to be seen, though Fallout season 2 must provide an answer either way.
