Ella Purnell's ending of Fallout season 1.

Fallout has been a major success for Ella Purnell in the past, and it will continue to set records for her in the future. Purnell has been part of some massively popular shows in recent years, from Fallout to Yellowjacket and Sweetpea. She's seemingly incapable of being in a bad series, and she's quickly gaining fame because of it. However, none of Purnell's shows have been able to do something that Fallout just confirmed it would: give her a starring role that lasts more than two seasons.

Fallout Is Now Ella Purnell's Longest-Running Show As A Main Cast Member

Fallout's Season 3 Confirmation Makes It Purnell's Longest-Running Main Character Role

Recently, Amazon confirmed that Fallout has been renewed for a third season, even ahead of the release of Fallout season 2. Since Fallout will last for at least three seasons, and Purnell's role as Lucy MacLean makes her a core part of the show's cast, it will be her longest-running show as a main character. Previously, Purnell had two other shows where she voiced main characters - Jinx in Arcane and Gwyn in Star Trek: Prodigy - but they both ended with their second seasons in 2024. The only other show that could count - Yellowjackets - saw Purnell in a recurring role for its second and third seasons.

Purnell has actually had a remarkable track record of only appearing in short-lived shows. Aside from Arcane and Star Trek: Prodigy, Purnell's next-longest show as a main character was the two-season Sweetbitter. The rest of her serialized efforts were either in guest appearances for a single season, like Invincible, in limited series, such as Belgravia, or starring in the one-season Sweetpea. In effect, Fallout's renewal marks a big change for Purnell, and a sign that she'll have a consistent starring TV role for at least the next few years.

Yellowjackets Could Still Become Ella Purnell's Longest-Running Show

If Yellowjackets Season 4 Is Confirmed, Purnell's Recurring Role Could Make It Her Longest Show

Though Ella Purnell's role as Jackie on Yellowjackets can't be her longest-running show as a main character, it could still be her longest-running series in general. If Yellowjackets season 4 is eventually renewed, it will be the lengthiest show Purnell has ever been involved in. Jackie has been dead for a while, but Yellowjackets has had no problem having Purnell return in visions or flashbacks in the past, and that trend could easily extend to season 4. Again, however, Purnell is only a recurring or guest actor in Yellowjackets at this point, meaning it won't be able to usurp Fallout's record.

When Will Fallout Season 3 Arrive On Prime Video?

Fallout Season 2 Comes Out 20 Months After Season 1, So Season 2 Can Be Expected In August 2027

The news of Fallout season 3's confirmation is great for Ella Purnell and Fallout fans alike, and many viewers may be wondering when the third season will actually be available. Luckily, season 3's confirmation also came with news about Fallout season 2's release window, which helps gauge how long it could take to see the third season. Fallout season 2 will be released in December 2025, 20 months after the first season premiered in April 2024. If Fallout season 3 takes a similar amount of time to film, edit, market, and produce, it could be available to stream on Prime in August 2027.

Of course, there are factors that could either speed up or slow down Fallout season 3's production in relation to season 2's timeframe. Fallout season 2 was confirmed after season 1 had already been released, whereas season 3 was renewed over half a year ahead of season 2's release. That extra time may be enough for production of Fallout season 3 to begin more quickly, meaning there could be a shorter turnaround for it to be streaming on Prime Video. With any luck, Ella Purnell's longest-running show, Fallout season 3, could be back as early as December 2026.
