The Wizarding World continues to grow in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, and here is where all of the main characters ended up after the events of the film. The third chapter in a planned five-fold franchise, Fantastic Beasts 3 sees Newt Scamander and his friends reuniting with Albus Dumbledore in a bid to stop Gellert Grindelwald's rise to power.
The Fantastic Beasts franchise is set decades before the Harry Potter films take place. Beginning in the late 1920s and spanning nearly two decades, the franchise will see the rise and fall of Grindelwald and follow those who braved all to thwart him. Thanks to some information provided and the books by author J.K. Rowling, several of the characters' fates in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore are already known, including Grindelwald's.
Where did everyone end up? What became of Queenie and Lally? Did Tina ever work with Dumbledore again? For a refresher, this article aims to provide information about the lives of Newt, Dumbledore, Grindelwald and more following the events of Fantastic Beasts 3. Here's what happened to every main character after the film ended.
Newt Scamander
Following the events of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Newt will likely continue helping Albus Dumbledore in his mission to stop Gellert Grindelwald. After the dark wizard’s defeat in 1945, however, Newt goes on to marry Tina Goldstein. They have one child together and, later, a grandson named Rolf, who went on to marry Luna Lovegood. Professionally, Newt, who already published Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 1927, spearheads the Werewolf in 1947. The was meant to ensure all werewolves in the Wizarding World were documented within the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. In 1965, Newt wrote into law a ban that would prevent wizards and witches from breeding magical creatures like basilisks. The Ban on Experimental Breeding would still be in place decades later. In 1979, Newt was the recipient for the Order of Merlin, which was presented to him to honor his work as a magizoologist. As of the year 2017, Newt is still very much alive and well, enjoying time with his family and still writing.
Albus Dumbledore
During the era of Fantastic Beasts, Albus Dumbledore was the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Before or around 1943, Dumbledore became the professor of Transfiguration. It was during the year of 1943 that he suspected Tom Riddle was behind the attacks that were petrifying students at Hogwarts. In 1945, Dumbledore finally dueled with Grindelwald, defeating his former lover following the breaking of their blood pact in 1932. After Grindelwald was captured and imprisoned in Nurmengard Castle, Dumbledore received high praise for his actions in saving the Wizarding World from further peril.
By the mid-1960s, years after Riddle had graduated from Hogwarts, Dumbledore was chosen to guide the magical school as Heaster, a position he would hold until his death in 1997. In 1970, as Lord Voldemort’s power was on the rise and his followers were growing in number, Dumbledore founded the Order of the Phoenix, recruiting like Arthur and Molly Weasley, to fight Voldemort and the Death Eaters. In the early 1980s (before the death of Lily and James Potter), Dumbledore recruited Severus Snape as a double agent in the fight against Voldemort. He would also go on to possess two of the three Deathly Hallows and guide Harry Potter before his final battle with Voldemort in 1998.
Gellert Grindelwald
Gellert Grindelwald was at the height of his power in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. He would enjoy several more years of it, recruiting more followers and waging a war against the Wizarding World that would go on for several years before Grindelwald is defeated by Dumbledore in a legendary duel in 1945. After Dumbledore bests him, Grindelwald, — no longer the true owner of the Elder Wand — is turned into the wizarding authorities and sent to Nurmengard Castle to live out the rest of his days in a prison cell. Grindelwald looks back on his past with some shame, remorseful for some of the things he did in his prime. In 1998, Voldemort pays a visit to Grindelwald in search of the Elder Wand and kills the older wizard after he refused to give the Dark Lord any information.
Jacob Kowalski & Queenie Goldstein
There isn’t all that much known about Jacob Kowalski’s life after the events of Fantastic Beasts 3. Jacob, a Muggle/No-Maj, was devastated after Queenie left him, but they reunited at the end of the film. Jacob and Queenie got married and seemingly lived happily ever after. It’s possible Jacob continued working at his bakery in New York for a long time after. Queenie, meanwhile, presumably went back to work with the Magical Congress of the United States (MACUSA). Whether the pair had any children together is unknown.
Theseus Scamander
Theseus Scamander is Newt’s older brother and an Auror with the British Ministry of Magic. Theseus becomes an uncle to Newt and Tina’s child, though it’s unclear if he marries himself. It’s likely the Auror continues to help Dumbledore and Newt in their mission to thwart Grindelwald over the next several years until his defeat. After that, however, there isn’t any information on his life, though one can predict he remains in his position as Auror for a long while after.
Eulalie “Lally” Hicks
Lally Hicks continues teaching at the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In 1932, around the time Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore was set, Lally published a third edition of her book, Advanced Charms Casting. Beyond her time working alongside Newt and Dumbledore against Grindelwald, there isn’t a whole lot to be gleaned about Lally’s life in the years thereafter.
Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein
In 1932, Tina was the Head of the Auror Office for MACUSA, which is why she didn't Newt and Dumbledore on their mission. Tina eventually goes on to marry Newt, after which she leaves the Auror department in the U.S. to move to the United Kingdom, where she lives with her husband. They have one child together and a grandson, Rolf. Beyond her marriage, however, Tina’s professional career is unknown. She is still alive in 2017 at the age of 116 and is still living in the UK.
Credence Barebone/Aurelius Dumbledore
Aurelius was an Obscurial, which means he possessed a dark magic that manifested due to having his magic repressed. By the end of Fantastic Beasts 3, Aurelius was reunited with his family, but his Obscurus continued to poison him, weakening him greatly. It is known that wizards and witches who are Obscurial do not live very long and it’s suspected that Aurelius will likely not live long after going to live with his biological father, Aberforth Dumbledore.
Aberforth Dumbledore
Following Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Aberforth took Aurelius home with him to live out his remaining days in peace. In the years thereafter, Aberforth continued running the Hog’s Head Inn, keeping his ear to the ground about what was happening around the Wizarding World. He ed the Order of the Phoenix with Albus, fighting alongside his fellow against Voldemort in the first war. Mostly, Aberforth kept to himself, never fully forgiving his brother for Ariana's death. Despite everything, he still helped Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger when they needed help during Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Yusuf Kama
Yusuf Kama was working as a double agent in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore — he worked alongside Dumbledore and was a spy within Grindelwald's ranks. Although he didn't get his full revenge on Grindelwald, Yusuf ed Newt, Dumbledore and the rest of their group to stop the dark wizard during the elections. After that, however, there isn't any information about what Yusuf gets up to next. One can expect him to continue working with Dumbledore and Newt until Grindelwald's downfall in 1945.
