Warning: Contains spoilers for Fantastic Four #26!!
Magic is typically outside the wheelhouse of the Reed Richards, but Dr. Doom's recent ascension to Sorcerer Supreme has put magic on Mister Fantastic's radar in a big way. Doom is currently MIA, but the Fantastic Four know that won't last forever. Reed's newest invention, dubbed a "magic detector", will ensure the team is prepared when the Latverian leader returns.
In Fantastic Four #26 – written by Ryan North, with art by Ivan Fiorelli, Brain Reber, and Joe Caramagna, Reed finishes tinkering with his latest feat of engineering when he completes his magic detector. According to him, it will “indicate where magic is being used.” The immediate purpose of the device is to help them locate and prepare for Dr. Doom, who now wields more power than ever. Yet, in a broader sense, it gives the Fantastic Four a distinct advantage against any magic . If Reed's calculations are correct, his magic detector will allow the Fantastic Four to pinpoint any magic and always stay one step ahead of them.

Reed Richards’ Hyperglove Is the Ultimate Heroic Answer to Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet
One invention in Mister Fantastic's future combines his genius with a predictive power that could render Thanos and other major threats obsolete.
This particular invention has the potential to be more far-reaching than its intended target. Doom may not remain the Sorcerer Supreme forever, but there are plenty of other magical Marvel Universe foes, and the magic detector could potentially expand the Fantastic Four’s already broad horizons by making them a go-to in magical altercations. Reed revealed few specific details, but if it could detect specific magic signatures, it could be an incredible alert system to known and unknown threats. Alternately, locating magical allies would be far easier, as it would theoretically also locate heroes like Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and others.
Once Again, Mister Fantastic’s Latest Inventions Add To The Fantastic Four’s Considerable Power
Reed's Magic Detector’s Benefits Could Be Shared
In of power and versatility, few superhero teams stand equal to the Fantastic Four, and Reed's inventions stack on top of the group's already impressive range of abilities. In this case, the detector's potential remains vast, even though it has yet to be field tested; Its success would be a boon for the team and their allies, as the Four are generally cooperative with other heroes, especially when something threatens the world on the scale of Sorcerer Supreme Doom. Reed Richards' magic detector can sense and locate magic s, granting the Fantastic Four a chance to outmaneuver magic itself.
