Ubisoft might receive a ton of schtick for being a rather unimaginative studio that churns out open-world games like it's no one's business, but there's no denying the fact that, sometimes, Far Cry series. Along with the usual Far Cry open-world hijinks that the player can pull off, there's also a huge number of side activities that one can perform as well. One such side activity that seems shallow at first glance before showing the complexity of said activity is fishing. Players can spend hours looking at Far Cry 5's pretty landscapes as they fish for ages.
For the completionists, it's a given that they would try and beat as many fishing records as possible. To make this task easier, here's a list of all the fishing challenges and where one can go to beat them.
Arctic Grayling Salmon
One of the two smallest fish in the fishing records that you need to catch is the Arctic Grayling Salmon. Catching this fish can prove to be somewhat of a doozy, mainly due to the location where one needs to fish.
At the southwestern edge of Jacob's region, there's a pond right at the edge of the map. Opening the map is highly recommended to find this pond, which is completely isolated from civilization and can be quite a pain to reach. Fish here, and netting the Arctic Grayling Salmon is as easy as can be.
Rock Bass
The Rock Bass that needs to be caught to break the record is around the same size as the Arctic Grayling Salmon.
This 3-pounder can be found in the Henbane River region. One needs to fish at the very center of the Rock Bass lake — obviously enough — to bag this fish.
Golden Trout
One of the records entails catching a 4-pound Golden Trout, which can be found in Jacob's region.
The player needs to head to Silver Lake first, after which they must head west from the northern bridge entrance. Fishing here will net this rare — and beautiful — catch.
Kokanee Salmon
In the Whitetail Mountain region, one can fish in a certain location to net a 6-pound Kokanee Salmon.
This fish can be found on the southwestern shore of Cedar Lake and is a relatively easy catch.
Smallmouth Bass
Along with the Rock Bass that has already been discussed above, the Henbane River region houses two types of bass that need to be caught to break their respective fishing records. The first one is the Smallmouth Bass, and finding the perfect fishing spot to nab a record-breaking catch can prove to be rather back-breaking instead.
The player needs to head to the eastern edge of Henbane River's territory, after which they need to find a specific spot between two gun stores. After figuring this area out, the fish is as good as caught.
Largemouth Bass
The slightly larger cousin of the Smallmouth Bass can be found in the same region. One needs to head north from the fishing spot where they grabbed the Smallmouth Bass, towards the gun store on the eastern edge of the territory.
Upon reaching this area, the player needs to fish in the river that's closest to this gun store. Doing so will net the Largemouth Bass soon enough.
Bull Trout
Trout is quite a delicacy indeed, and Far Cry 5 allows for the player to catch numerous types of trout, with each variant being interesting in their own way.
This 21-pound whopper of a Bull Trout can be found in Jacob's region. Players need to fish in the northwest portion of Langford Lake to nab this prey.
Chinook Salmon
The Chinook Salmon is found in the Whitetail Mountain region, and the player needs to get a whopping 27-pounder to break this fishing record.
The player needs to fish in the water body that's situated northwest of the F.A.N.G. Center to nab this massive specimen... or, at least, increase their chances of succeeding in the same.
Rainbow Trout
The beautiful Rainbow Trout is the next fish to nab. The first step to take in order to accomplish the same is heading to John's region first and foremost. The exact destination that the player needs to arrive at is Rae-Rae's Pumpkin Farm.
From here, the player should head southwest until they happen upon a small pond. The record-breaking Rainbow Trout can be fished here.
Lake Trout
The biggest trout in the game weights a whopping 37 pounds and can be found in Jacob's region.
This trout can be fished in Wishbone's Lake. For players who have a hard time locating this area, the best course of action to take would be to head north from Fort Drubman. The player will stumble upon this lake soon enough if they follow this path.
