Ubisoft’s next installment in the Far Cry franchise is going to have the biggest open-world map in the series, and newest reveal trailer for Far Cry 6 just dropped yesterday, showing off the story, gameplay features, and plenty of action for players to get hyped over. With a special guest appearance by narrative designer, Navid Khavari, the trailer unveiled plenty of secrets and surprises in Far Cry 6, one of them being the immense playable map size. Though specifics have been hard to glean from the trailer, Yara is huge, and one Reddit ’s screenshot gives players a better representation of its size.

Far Cry 6 takes place on the fictional Caribbean island nation known as Yara, with danger, violence, and suppression rampant across the country. As Yara prepares for revolution and its controlling dictator fights to maintain power, Dani Rojas, the playable character, will need to step up and use guerilla tactics to save its people. Ubisoft confirmed that Yara is the largest playable world in the Far Cry franchise, and Far Cry 6’s map will feature the most diverse selection of locales and environments for players to explore.

Posted by Reddit PaulMorrison90, a screenshot of a Yara map puts the open world of Far Cry 6 into perspective. Though in other trailer snippets it was hard to tell just how big the world was, the screenshot presents in clear view the massive scale of Far Cry 6.

With a diverse set of landmasses, including one riddled with mountains and another jungle-like area, the map is certainly the largest of any Far Cry map in the series. Ubisoft previously explained that Yara is its own independent country, which means the map on the table likely shows everything players can explore. The map even includes a second, detached island in the bottom left corner, which is speculated to be either the tutorial island, like in Far Cry 3, or the area housing the final boss fight, heavily guarded by Anton Castillo’s men.

There is a noticeable chunk of water separating the island from the rest of Yara, which could mean a long boat ride or even a plane ride to get to the segregated landmass. The map is zoned, which could be separating more difficult territories from less-guarded ones, like in Far Cry 4. There also seemed to be jungles, beaches, and other notable locales like a lighthouse, an airport, and plenty of buildings spread across the island. The map on the table shows plenty of room for a wide variety of unique places to fight in.

Far Cry 6 is certainly bringing more to the table, especially when it comes to the game’s playable map. The massive open-world will be something Far Cry players have never experience before, and hopefully, the game brings new gameplay features as well. The trailer showed off new guns and gameplay mechanics that should excite any guerilla soldier.
