Summary

  • Fast 11 is likely to bring back fan-favorite characters, even those previously presumed dead or missing, adding unexpected twists to the franchise.
  • Owen Shaw could return to help Dom and Deckard in their fight against Dante Reyes, given his personal stake in the battle.
  • Characters like Leon, Jesse, Suki, Fenix, Tego, Riley Hicks, Jakob Toretto, Mr. Nobody, and Monica Fuentes could also make a comeback and play significant roles in the final movies of the saga.

Fast 11 is sure to see plenty of characters from earlier in the Fast and Furious franchise return to the series and help Dom in his most dangerous battle yet. The saga is renowned for bringing back fan-favorite characters that had previously disappeared or even died, so there are very few people that are really off the table for Fast 11. Even characters that have been missing for several installments could make a surprise return - it’s happened plenty of times before.

Fast X’s post-credit sequence saw the return of Gisele Yashar, a character that was seemingly crushed by an airplane at the end of Fast and Furious 6. And since every movie in this franchise tries to get wilder than the one before it, Fast 11 needs to pull some serious tricks and twists. There are also characters that remain alive in the franchise, but just haven’t appeared for a few movies. It’s safe to assume most of these characters will come back for the final movies in the saga, presuming there’s no behind-the-scenes reason for it not to happen.

10 Owen Shaw

Luke Evan as Owen Shaw looking at something in The Fate of the Furious

Despite appearing briefly in The Fate of the Furious, Owen Shaw no longer seems as important as he once was to Fast and Furious franchise. He was a major antagonist in Fast and Furious 6, but since then, it’s been his brother Deckard in the spotlight. Fast 11 could give Owen Shaw another opportunity to help out Dom and Deckard in their fight against Dante Reyes, particularly since Dante’s kidnapping of Queenie Shaw gives him a personal stake in the fight. It would be great to see Owen and Deckard working together again, particularly after seeing how far Deckard went to avenge his brother in Furious 7.

9 Leon

Leon drives across the desert in The Fast and the Furious

Although Leon only appeared in the very first Fast and Furious movie, his character played a huge role in Dom and Brian’s respective journeys. Though he left the crew before things got too high-stakes, his friendship and loyalty to Dom could be enough to bring him back in Fast 11 if he learns that his old friend is in danger. His return would be a great excuse to see Dom’s old friends interacting with his new ones, really tying the saga together in its final moments. Leon abandoned Dom’s crew after the first movie, but he’s one of the few s that Dom knows is alive.

8 Jesse

Jesse in The Fast and the Furious

Although Jesse seemed to die in The Fast and the Furious, the franchise has been known to reverse deaths before, some of which being much harder to take back than Jesse's. It wouldn’t be too difficult for the writers to explain how Jesse actually survived all these years, perhaps even staying in with Leon and Vince after the crew was disbanded. His death had a strong effect on both Dom and Brian as they continued their criminal careers, so it would be interesting to see how Dom would be affected by his old friend returning.

7 Suki

Suki poses with her car in 2 Fast 2 Furious

Suki first appeared as a girlfriend of Tej in 2 Fast 2 Furious, but it’s unclear exactly what happened to her character after that movie. She’s never mentioned again in the franchise, even by her apparent boyfriend. It’s possible that their romance didn’t last very long, but it’s also possible that they’ve been together this whole time in a more low-key fashion. Perhaps when Suki learns about the danger that Tej has found himself in, she’ll return to the narrative and help save him.

6 Fenix

Laz Alonso aiming a gun as Fenix in Fast and Furious

Fenix was one of the main villains in the fourth Fast and Furious movie, with Dom seemingly killing him at the end of the story as revenge for Letty’s apparent death. But the character’s death was never actually confirmed. The crash seemed to have killed him on-screen, but its technically possible that he survived the encounter and has been waiting for the right moment to take Dom down. Dante seems to be the saga’s final boss, but there’s no reason Fenix couldn’t come back to help him out.

5 Tego

tego calderon don omar fast and furious

The character of Tego has appeared several times throughout the Fast and Furious series. He was first introduced in the fourth movie as a of Dom’s who quickly became a close ally, going on to help the crew whenever possible. He was involved in the heist in Rio de Janeiro, and Fast X actually confirmed that Tego found himself on Dante’s list of targets as a result. Perhaps Fast 11 could see Dante tracking down Tego as a way of putting even more pressure on Dom - or even just killing him as revenge for his father’s death.

4 Riley Hicks

Hobbs and Riley walk together in Fast & Furious 6

Riley Hicks was a minor antagonist in Fast and Furious 6 that quickly became known as the ‘evil counterpart’ of Letty Ortiz. She was brought into Hobbs’ team as an undercover agent for Owen Shaw, before her identity was ultimately exposed, causing her to be harpooned out of an airplane by Letty. It would certainly be a difficult death to reverse, but that’s exactly what the franchise is known for. If Owen Shaw returns to help Deckard in his fight against Dante, it would make sense that he’d bring somebody like Riley along with him too.

3 Jakob Toretto

A closeup of John Cena as Jakob Toretto in F9

Jakob Toretto’s fate is somewhat uncertain. Although he seemed to sacrifice himself at the end of Fast X in order to protect his brother, their moment was somewhat undercut when his act proved futile and Dante managed to capture Dom and his son anyway. This has led to theories that Jakob didn’t actually die at all, since no body was seen and it would’ve been an underwhelming way to get rid of the character. It could be that Jakob faked his own death to give him an advantage over Dante in the next movie, providing him with the element of surprise.

2 Mr. Nobody

Kurt Russell as Mr. Nobody and Tyrese as Roman Pearce in Fate of the Furious

Mr. Nobody hasn’t been seen for a while in the Fast and Furious franchise, supposedly because he was killed when Jakob shot down his plane. But that’s never quite sat right with most audiences, as Mr. Nobody has always been one step ahead of his enemies and probably wouldn’t have left himself so vulnerable. The character needed to disappear for Aimes to take his place in Fast X, but now that Aimes has revealed his true colors, the road is clear for Mr. Nobody to return and take his position back.

1 Monica Fuentes

Eva Mendes as Monica Fuentes holds a shotgun in 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Despite only appearing in one of the Fast and Furious movies, Monica Fuentes quickly became a fan-favorite character thanks to her sassy personality and fiery relationship with Brian. For the longest time, Fuentes has been ignored by the sequels and it seemed as though she’d never return - until her face was spotted on Dante’s list of targets in Fast X. It’s possible that this tease won’t lead anywhere, but it also opens the door for Fuentes’ return in Fast 11. It was revealed earlier in the series that Fuentes went on to work alongside Luke Hobbs, so perhaps she’ll be used as part of Dante’s revenge plot.
