Universal has officially delayed the release date for A Quiet Place Part II have now been delayed from their original late March and early April launch dates.

Recently, Fast & Furious star and producer Vin Diesel offered his assurances that wouldn't happen with Fast & Furious 9, ahead of the film's schedule release in late May. However, as the coronavirus situation continues to fluctuate, it's a promise that he simply could not keep. Now, the next installment in The Fast Saga (as the franchise was renamed by Universal earlier this year) has also been postponed.

An official statement was released by Universal today, confirming Fast & Furious 9 has been delayed by nearly a whole year to April 2, 2021 instead. You can read their announcement below.

To our family of Fast fans everywhere,

We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga.

That’s why it’s especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film. It’s become clear that it won’t be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May.

We are moving the global release date to April 2021, with North America opening on April 2. While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration.

Moving will allow our global family to experience our new chapter together. We’ll see you next spring.

From a healthy safety standpoint, it makes perfect sense for Universal to postpone Fast & Furious 9's release until they have a better understanding of Fast & Furious 10 back in 2016.

Following Fast & Furious 9's move, that leaves Disney's the problems it would cause for Marvel Studios by being delayed (due to the nature of the MCU). Still, as evidenced by what happened with Fast & Furious 9, that may very well change as studios continue to adjust to the coronavirus outbreak.
