A Hobbs and Shaw.

Hobbs & Shaw has only scratched the surface of what the Fast & Furious franchise can do beyond the Fast Saga. There's untapped potential behind spinoff movies centered on Fast & Furious heroes such as Mr. Nobody, but also villains like Jakob Toretto. This potential is heightened by the possibility of a female character-led Fast & Furious spinoff — an idea that has already reached Charlize Theron's ears. Luckily, Charlize Theron's only condition to star in a Fast & Furious spinoff is that Dame Helen Mirren's also participates, which seems like an exciting idea.

How A Cipher Spinoff Could Work For The Fast & Furious Franchise

In theory, it should be difficult to use one of the franchise's main villains as the star of a spinoff. However, Fast & Furious has already turned antagonistic characters into charismatic protagonists. Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw has several unforgivable deeds in his ledger, including his attempt to murder Han Lue in cold blood. Yet, Hobbs & Shaw got the audience rooting for him in his fight against Idris Elba's Brixton.

Similarly, Charlize Theron's villain was ready to unleash nuclear destruction in redeeming Cipher in a Fast & Furious movie, her spinoff could redeem reframe her motivations when an even bigger threat arrives. A Cipher spinoff could also come in the form of a prequel that reveals why Cipher became so ruthless, though Helen Mirren's role makes the former option more likely. A t adventure between Cipher and Magdalene Shaw would be a nice parallel to Hobbs & Shaw: an exciting buddy film starring two villains in an otherwise unlikely scenario where their goals align.

Could Cipher Be The Next Fast & Furious Villain Who Turns Into An Ally?

Hobbs, Shaw, Jakob Toretto, and Cipher in Fast and Furious

Charlize Theron's Cipher doesn't have to drop her villainous personality and Dominic Toretto's family to become a Fast & Furious star. Throughout the years, acclaimed movies like Goodfellas and Joker have opted not to justify the actions of their villain protagonists, but to make the audience empathize with them due to their charisma and inner journey. Still, a Cipher spinoff would likely turn Charlize Theron's character into something more of an anti-hero with a less controversial goal than nuclear war. Dom's Fast & Furious family is already too big, and as forgiving as they are, Cipher may be a little too despicable to become part of the crew.
