A new image from FBI: International season 4. Luckily, it was soon announced Chicago P.D. alum Jesse Lee Soffer would be ing the cast as the new Supervisory Special Agent.

Now, TVLine has released a photo of Soffer as Supervisory Special Agent Wes Mitchell in FBI: International season 4, who will be taking Forrester's place as leader of the Fly Team going forward. The image shows him sitting in a chair in what appears to be a hallway, speaking with someone off-camera. Described as having an endearing attitude, Mitchell is expected to be an instinct-driven leader. Showrunner Matt Olmstead also offered details of his arrival on the show, revealing he's not with the team when the season begins. Check out Olmstead's statement and the new image below:

Wes is not with the team when the season opens, as viewers meet him when he is investigating a ‘tourism robbery’ crew in Los Angeles — and dealing with turbulence with his girlfriend.

The Team Dynamics Are Going To Be Quite Different

Soffer is no stranger to shows produced by Dick Wolf, having portrayed Senior Detective Jay Halstead on Chicago P.D. through season 10. He will be ing the cast of FBI: International after a shortened season 3, which featured the departure of both Kleintank and his co-star Heida Reed, who played second-in-command Jamie Kellett. However, he won't be the only new face, as Jay Haden, known for playing Travis Montogomery in Station 19, will be ing as Tyler Booth in midseason. Soffer's role, however, will be important because he'll be expected the fill the void his beloved predecessor left.

Luke Kleintank's FBI: International exit during season 3 has set the stage for a Scott Forrester spinoff that would feature a franchise first.

Since Mitchell won't be part of the Fly Team when he's first introduced, Kleintank leaving FBI: International will still be a core topic felt through his introduction. While it's still unclear how he becomes their superior, his description of using "unconventional tactics" to bring criminals to justice means there could be some big changes to the team's dynamics in their cases moving forward. Because of how important Forrester was to the team, his replacement is going to have to prove himself just as capable to leave a good impression on his new teammates.

Our Take On Jesse Lee Soffer ing FBI: International Season 4

It's A Risky Move That Just Might Pay Off

There is some risk introducing Soffer to FBI: International's story, as his Agent Mitchell will be a new face suddenly taking charge of the team not long after a classic character departed. However, for those familiar with his performance on Chicago P.D., it might be a welcome surprise to see him back in a law enforcement role. With his character teased to be a complex hero with plenty of ways he might change the show, the CBS series might be in good hands with him as the team's new leader.

FBI: International season 4 premieres Tuesday, October 15 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
