Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from FBI: Most Wanted season 6, episode 21.While many of us want to see Sheryll Barnes (Roxy Sternberg) take over the running of the Fugitive Task Force in FBI: Most Wanted season 7 not happening, this could lead to a disappointing ending arc for Barnes if Remy is able to push for what he wants.

Barnes looks ready to move to D.C. to be closer to her children, but she is still ionate about working with the Fugitive Task Force. She may even feel obligated to take over the running of it if offered, but there are other great options within the Fugitive Task Force for Remy to consider, including one character he didn’t initially get along all that well with.

Remy Hints He's Ready To Retire In FBI: Most Wanted Season 6, Episode 21

FBI: Most Wanted Seems To Be Building To Retirement For Remy

Raines and Remy talking to a witness in FBI Most Wanted

Throughout FBI: Most Wanted season 6, Remy has focused on his future. He has opened up a bar, and he wants to run the place with Abby and push forward with that relationship. While he hasn’t stepped back from being with his team, he has hinted on multiple occasions that he is ready to retire. The most recent hint came in FBI: Most Wanted season 6, episode 21, when Remy shared with Barnes that he thinks what life could be like outside of the job.

There are several loose ends and character arcs that FBI: Most Wanted needs to tie up before the procedural airs the final episode of the series.

This does seem like a natural end for Remy in the FBI: Most Wanted series finale. Even if the series wasn’t coming to an end, it could have made a great ending for the season finale, leading to someone within the team taking over the charge afterward. Remy is a veteran agent, and he has managed to accomplish one thing he always wanted, which was to get justice for his brother’s murder, so he likely feels like his job within the FBI is done.

Barnes Taking Over The Fugitive Task Force Is Great For The Show But Bad For The Character

Remy Seems To Think Barnes Would Be A Great Leader

With the potential retirement, Remy is likely looking at who could take over the running of the team, and his eyes have naturally fallen on Barnes. She is a skilled agent, and she already has the loyalty and trust of the team. For the Fugitive Task Force itself, this would make an excellent change, and had CBS not canceled FBI: Most Wanted, it would have been a great way to start the next season.

She wants to be a great mom as well as a great agent, but that’s not easy when they are so far apart.

However, the series is coming to an end, and having Barnes take over as the leader isn’t the best arc for her character. In the backend of season 6 of the Barnes in FBI: Most Wanted would be to take the position in D.C., which she itted she is excited about now that she’s learned the job is hers if she wants it.

What's The Best Way To Wrap Up FBI: Most Wanted?

There Are Other Agents Who Could Lead The Team

Instead of having Barnes take over the Fugitive Task Force, there are other agents who could do this job. One of those is Nina Chase (Shantel VanSanten), who Remy didn’t initially get along with as she came in hot with accusations in FBI: Most Wanted season 6. However, she is a capable agent, works well with the rest of the team, and puts the case first. We could even find out how she is doing via Scola in FBI season 8.

FBI: Most Wanted may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean all arcs need to end. Hana should move over to the team in the CIA FBI spinoff.

Alternatively, Remy could stick around, deciding that it’s not the right time to retire just yet. Losing one team member is already had enough. A team having to go through two changes at once could lead to difficulties on the job, and Remy may realize that Barnes being closer to her children is more important than him retiring right away. He can wait a few more years to retire while the team brings on a new member and he finds someone else to lead, as the Fugitive Task Force will still be there as FBI: Most Wanted ends.
