Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for FBI: International season 4, episode 19.While FBI: International season 4, episode 19 proving one character should get their own spinoff.

Megan “Smitty” Garretson (Eva-Jane Willis) quickly became a favorite character when she was introduced in FBI: International season 2. She held her own, gelled well with the team, and balanced the line between the FBI’s needs and her job with Europol. In FBI: International season 4, episode 19, her character got some much-needed development, and it would be a shame to waste that without a spinoff focusing on her since there is no FBI: International season 5.

Smitty Goes Out In The Field In FBI: International Season 4, Episode 19

Smitty Discovered More About Herself While Undercover

Eva-Jane Willis as Europol Agent Megan “Smitty” Garretson and Jesse Lee Soffer as Supervisory Special Agent Wesley "Wes" Mitchell in FBI: International season 4, episode 11

In an attempt to foil an arms dealer’s plan, Smitty and Wes Mitchell (Jesse Lee Soffer) went undercover as a husband and wife dealing with illegal diamonds. While Smitty’s South African accent was a little off, she was convincing enough to make the wife of the arms dealer believe her. This led to a connection between the two of them, which leaned toward the genuine side, especially for Smitty.

I Like Wes, But FBI: International Needs To Focus On A Different Character Instead

FBI: International seems to have forgotten about the other of the Fly Team while focusing on Wes, especially of the team.

While undercover, Smitty developed feelings for her mark, but she was also able to keep her mind focused on the job. When it came to arresting the arms dealer and his wife, she and Wes were able to manage it, and their sting was a success. This shouldn’t have been a surprise to many, as Smitty has always been able to separate the personal from the professional, even when it has involved her own family.

A Europol Spinoff With Smitty Is The Best Way To Continue FBI: International After Its Cancelation

The FBI Universe Could Grow With Europol’s Adventures

With Smitty gaining a following and a storyline, it would be a waste for FBI: International to completely end before she experiences her full sexual awakening. On top of that, Willis would make an excellent lead for a series, especially one that involves a character we have already come to know and love. There isn’t a need for a stretched-out backstory to get to know her, allowing time to get to know other characters in the series.

The Fly Team has only just scratched the surface with that, learning about extradition rules and different expectations of countries’ citizens.

On top of that, a Europol FBI spinoff would allow for that international feel again. With a CIA spinoff happening, it makes sense to branch out to other major organizations around the world. Europol deals with various other police forces and jurisdictions, allowing us to learn more about the way the legal system works around the world. The Fly Team has only just scratched the surface with that, learning about extradition rules and different expectations of countries’ citizens. An FBI: International spinoff focused on Smitty would allow for that to expand, as she leads a team around Europe.
