But among the best characters that were introduced after season 1, interestingly, many of them were villains, while others quickly emerged to become fan favorites.

John Dorie

John Dorie ed the cast in season 4 as a lonely former police officer who had resorted to living on his own in his childhood cabin, spending his days renting movies from the local shop, eating hard candies, and playing Scrabble with himself.

He came upon Morgan who helped give him a reason to push on and care about a new group of people. John Dorie's death was one of the most heartbreaking on Fear the Walking Dead as fans grew to love his honesty, kindness, and incredible quick shot.

June

It took some time for fans to warm to June as she entered the show as a mysterious nurse who wanted nothing to do with people, despite John Dorie's best efforts to get her to open up. But she eventually did, revealing the tragic backstory that led her to want to live alone.

Since arriving in season 4, June has become one of the most critical characters on the show, responsible for some of the most compelling storylines, from her relationship with Virginia to her overall role in helping create a new world.

John Dorie Sr.

One of the newest characters to the cast in season 6, John Dorie Sr. provides a way for John Dorie to live on through his estranged father. A compelling character in his own right, the former police officer lived in solitude over the grief of having been unsuccessful in catching a serial killer.

The dynamic between him and daughter-in-law June, from the moment they met to their time together hiding in a bunker following the nuclear event, has allowed the character to grow and become one of the most interesting and multi-layered on the show to date.

Althea

A picture of Althea crouched on the ground in Fear the Walking Dead is shown.

Althea ed the cast at the same time as many others in season 4 as the journalist who went to great lengths to capture the stories of every person she came across. It was her footage, in fact, that helped give Alicia closure by seeing her mother's on camera before she ed away.

Althea has heart, grit, and is often one of the most resourceful and logical thinkers among the group. Althea is one of the bravest characters on Fear the Walking Dead. Without Althea, and the tanker she had when the group met her, they would not have gotten as far as they did.

Wendell

As the first wheelchair on Fear the Walking Dead, Wendell managed to, with the help of his adoptive sister, turn his chair into a rolling weapon to defeat walkers. This was a phenomenal story, as one that challenged the perception that a wheelchair would be less equipped to survive an apocalypse. The pair ed in season 4.

Wendell helped save the group more than once, including lighting the way for them to successfully land a plane. While he hasn't been seen for some time, since the end of season 5, it has been confirmed that the character will return. And the dynamic between him and his sister will likely continue to delight.

Sarah

Sarah has mostly remained in the background since ing the cast in season 4 as a recurring character, being promoted to a main character in season 6. A former marine, the unconditional love and need to protect she has for her adoptive brother Wendell makes her a character fans quickly fell in love with.

But what makes Sarah one of the best new characters is that she often provides much-needed comic relief through the use of witty one-liners and hilarious nicknames, like calling Morgan "Mo" despite his obvious aversion to the moniker.

Morgan

Lennie James as Morgan in Fear The Walking Dead

Like him or not, and while there are a lot of things that don't make sense about Morgan from Fear the Walking Dead, he helped breathe new life in the show that might have otherwise floundered after having lost many of its original characters.

ing the cast in season 4 after crossing over from The Walking Dead, where he was one of the original cast , Morgan became the elected leader of the group, making the decisions and determining the paths they would follow the entire way since.

Troy

Troy from Fear the Walking Dead, sitting down, holding a gun and looking at it.

One of many villains on the show, Troy was an interesting character in that he was so puzzling, fans didn't know what to make of him. Impulsive and violent, he posed a real threat to the group. But it was the existence of this character that truly allowed Madison to shine.

She found a way to manipulate him until she was ultimately able to kill him. Through his time on the show as a primary antagonist of season 3, Troy truly made things exciting and kept fans at the edges of their seats.

Mel

Mel from Fear the Walking Dead in the dark, looking at someone, hair slicked back.

Mel, one of the main villains on Fear the Walking Dead, was also among the best in the sense that he provided the conflict that was needed for season 4. As the leader of the Vultures, Mel had a subtle way about him, simply camping outside of communities, causing trouble, and waiting for them to either relent or fight him and his group, who would ultimately win and take over.

The tension between him and Madison was palpable, made more exciting through Mel's charm and ego. While he won in the end as Madison sacrificed herself for the sake of her children, Alicia had the last laugh and Mel's death scene and pleading for his life gave him one of the most shocking exits ever on the show.

Teddy

Teddy shot kneeling on the ground on Fear the Walking Dead

Teddy marked the first time a cult leader and a serial killer was introduced on the series, including someone who led that life before the apocalypse and didn't fall into it due to circumstance. It was a clever introduction as well, since he was coincidentally the serial killer that John Dorie Sr. had been hunting all those years.

Teddy's ability to come off as charming and prophetic, along with seeing both the people who fell for his tricks and those who wanted nothing to do with him, made him a compelling addition to the cast as the primary antagonist in season 6.
