Relationships in FF7 Rebirth are based on a mechanic called Bonds of Friendship. Bonds of Friendship track how much time you've spent with a given party member. When you get to the Haunted Hotel in Chapter 12, the character with the highest Bonds of Friendship will knock on Cloud's door and trigger a personal scene.
