Aside from the game's various performance issues, the hotfix for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth also addressed several smaller issues that have bothered the community. Notably, party member Red XIII’s moves Supernal Fervor, and Watcher's Spirit have been buffed to ensure they're not as easy for enemies to cancel. Players can now also select between difficulty options when customizing their Mini Game settings for Fort Condor, and Gears and Gambits.

The original Final Fantasy VII was released in 1997 for the PlayStation One and is widely regarded as the best game in the franchise.

While many players are pleased to see that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is running significantly better in Performance Mode, many are questioning whether Square Enix has any plans to add additional content to the game. While the developer's intentions are unclear, it traditionally releases a couple of pieces of DLC for its Final Fantasy games, if not entire expansions. 2020's Final Fantasy VII Remake received the Intergrade expansion a year after its debut on PlayStation 4, marking its release on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Be A Trilogy

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second game in what has been dubbed the Remake Trilogy, given that Square Enix has noted that it will cap off its reimagining of the beloved PlayStation One game with a third and final title. The PlayStation 5 exclusive largely focuses on Cloud Strife and his team of eco-warriors as they leave the smoky dystopia of Midgar and begin exploring the wider world. While the narrative has been praised, it's worth noting that the developers have changed several major plot points, something that has irked some diehard enthusiasts.
