A battle that Dirge of Cerberus

Dirge of Cerberus starred Vincent Valentine, as he dealt with a rising military organization called Deepground. It was revealed that Hojo lived on as an A.I. and was using Deepground as part of a plan to awaken Omega Weapon, which would gather the Lifestream and move it to another planet. Hojo planned to use a person named Weiss the Immaculate to summon Omega, thanks to his incredible physical power. Vincent managed to defeat Weiss and used the power of Chaos to suppress Omega Weapon. There was a secret ending where Genesis from Crisis Core showed up and claimed Weiss' body, but we never found out what happened next.

Weiss and Deepground will be returning this summer, as they will be featured in the DLC for the FF7 Remake. Co-director Tetsuya Nomura has told Famitsu that Cloud Strife will have a chance to fight Weiss in the DLC, as this was something he originally wanted for a secret boss battle in FF7 Remake.

Cloud never had the chance to fight Weiss in Dirge of Cerberus, as all of the other of Avalanche were busy dealing with the high-ranking of Deepground during the final hours of the game. Cloud's last canonical battle in the original FF7 series was against a member of Deepground called Rosso the Crimson. Weiss was Vincent's foe, so Cloud never got a shot at him. Fans have speculated for years about who would win in a battle between the two, as they're both swordsmen.

It was assumed that Weiss would face Yuffie in FF7 Remake, as he was introduced in the trailer for her DLC episode, but it seems that won't be the case. The secret bosses in FF7 Remake were a letdown, and the fans who hoped to see one of the Weapon monsters make an appearance were left dissapointed. The Yuffie DLC will finally give the longtime FF7 fans the fanservice-laden boss battle that they were hoping for in FF7 Remake.
