Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is finally available on PlayStation 5, allowing players to experience Square Enix's story on the newest generation of consoles, along with its INTERmission DLC. In what is an ultimately unsurprising move for the FF7 Remake series, it seems like some in-game events have been switched up again, since new information about Final Fantasy 7 Remake's world confirms that a character believed to be dead is still alive.

[WARNING: Major Spoilers for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade below]

FF7 Remake messed with the events of the original game, which culminated in the main characters defeating the arbiters of fate and creating a new timeline. There were already changes from FF7 that happened before the ending, such as Biggs and Wedge surviving the destruction of the plate. The end of Final Fantasy 7 Remake hinted that characters believed dead could still be alive, as Aerith has a vision of Zack surviving the events of Crisis Core, and Biggs sees Jessie's headband, suggesting she is still out there as well.

FF7 Remake's INTERmission DLC was originally billed as being about Yuffie, but it actually continues on from the ending of FF7 Remake. Cloud and his friends are seen hitchhiking outside of Midgar on the way to their next destination. There is also a post-credits scene that answers a lot of questions about the ending of FF7 Remake, while also raising a lot more.

FF7 Remake: Is Zack Fair The Survivor?

Lonely Vista in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade

FF7 Remake Intergrade: INTERmission features a post-credits scene where Zack arrives at the church in Midgar, hoping to find Aerith. He is preparing his next line before deciding to barge in. Zack sees people hiding in the church and asks where Aerith is. The ending of INTERmission confirms that Zack Fair is indeed alive, and it wasn't just a vision that Aerith had.

There are still a lot of questions remaining about Zack's presence. Why does he have a Buster Sword even though Cloud has one and only one is meant to exist? Where has he been all this time? Is this the original Zack, or has he arrived from another timeline? He's only a day away from the party and they need to spend time in Kalm (assuming the story does the Nibelheim flashback in the sequel), so is he going to catch up to Cloud and his friends? If Zack is still alive, then what happened to the Cloud he was escorting to Midgar? Is there a second Cloud running around" again, and control Zack on the battlefield as a party member.
