Tifa Lockhart from ridiculously oversized Buster Swords, and has already served as a combatant in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy and its follow-up, Final Fantasy NT, alongside her teammate and occasional love interest Cloud Strife.
However, her last official guest appearance as a playable character in a non-Final Fantasy fighting title was in 1999’s Ehrgeiz: God Bless The Ring for the original PlayStation, with the closest thing since being a cameo as a Mii costume and spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - a game that also features Cloud and for a crossover appearance.
According to Kotaku, PC modder Wolfe recently made this a reality by bringing Tifa into Tekken 7, skinning the Final Fantasy VII heroine’s appearance over fellow female pugilist Josie Rizal after 500 hours of work over the past two months. Also included in this mod are a few of Tifa's voice lines from previous games as in-fight dialog, several of her most famous outfits as alternate costumes, and even a custom-made stage based on the postmodern city of Midgar, with night and day variants. Wolfe plans to add more lines and another costume as they work to iron out a few bugs and glitches, but fans can watch the currently available Tifa Lockhart mod in action in the YouTube clip below:
While Tifa might not become an official guest fighter for Tekken 7, she is set to make her next big appearance in a recent trademark Square Enix filed a few weeks ago titled “Ever Crisis” - a name that hints at the involvement of fan-favorite SOLDIER Zack Fair.
As fans wait for further developments about these exciting new Final Fantasy VII titles, they can enjoy watching Tifa do what she does best in Wolfe’s Tekken 7 PC mod. All of Tifa's available outfits are rendered quite well, and Josie's kickboxing moveset matches up with her fighting style in her home series perfectly. This mod is stated to be a work in progress, but so far Tifa is off to a solid start in the world of Tekken 7.
