It might be hard to believe, but Fight Club is now over 20 years old. Time es quickly when we spend so long browsing memes of the movie. Though fans have been clamoring for a sequel to the movie for years as Chuck Palahniuk, the author of the novel, has written two follow-ups to the original, the chances of that ever happening are slim to none.
What’s more likely is that, as Hollywood does with everything, the movie may eventually be remade, and though the original cast of Fight Club is part of what’s made it a classic today, there are plenty of actors who could give brad Pitt and company a run for their money.
Detective Stern - Mahershala Ali
Granted, there’s very little meat with this role. Besides a meeting and a few cutaways during phone conversations, Detective Stern is investigating the fire in The Narrator’s apartment very much in the background. Given how Mahershala Ali has proven how much of a varied actor he is time and again, he would be perfect for Detective Stern.
Ali single-handedly brought True Detective back from the miserable depths it had fallen into, as he starred in the positively received season three of the show. The actor would be great at delivering Stern’s lines and maybe even bring more of a character to it.
Richard Chesler - Richard Kind
Though he’s now arguably most popular for his recurring role on Larry David’s loved about the show's tenth season, Richard Kind is one of those actors who seems to crop up in every TV show/movie that exists.
The actor is hilarious and is known mostly for his odd voice, but he can also do drama extremely well. Casting him as The Narrator’s short-tempered employer would turn the character into more than just the one-dimensional and stereotypical boss he’s seen as in the movie.
Angel Face - Tom Holland
Tom Holland might have his hands full with a ton of movies that aren’t even in the MCU, never mind Spider-Man itself, but the actor would fill Jared Leto’s boots well. Holland might play a 16-year-old, but in reality, he’s actually 24, and being on the Marvel workout routine, he’s absolutely shredded too.
Being an early member of Fight Club and then Project Mayhem, Angel Face’s main scene is when The Narrator beats him to a bloody pulp because he “wanted to destroy something beautiful,” and there’s no denying that Holland is a pretty handsome fella.
Robert ‘Bob’ Paulson - Dave Bautista
Already being one of the actors who should be recast in The Fast And The Furious, Dave Bautista will clearly only ever get roles owing to his size and heft for the rest of his life, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a great actor.
Bautista has proved with movies such as Blade Runner 2049 that he isn’t just the hilarious, belligerent Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, but he is an exceptional dramatic actor with a huge range, and he is definitely able to replace Meat Loaf as Bob, the highly emotional ex-body builder with testicular cancer.
Lou - J.K. Simmons
J.K. Simmons already has a ton of Spider-Man trilogy, and he can be scarily vicious, just like his role of Fletcher in Whiplash.
The role of Lou, who owns Lou’s Tavern, the basement of which Fight Club is operated out of, sits somewhere in the middle of those two characters. The one scene Lou appears in is one of the most memorable scenes in the movie, as he screams at Tyler Durden and beats him to a bloody pulp.
Tyler Durden - Oscar Isaac
Recasting Tyler Durden is an almost impossible feat, as even just the look of Brad Pitt in the role is iconic with his physique that every man strives to have. On top of that, the way Brad Pitt moves and his charisma that shines through is a big reason that helped the movie get a huge following.
Oscar Isaac’s charisma is a force to be reckoned with and gives his all in every movie he’s in, whether it’s his charm in the Star Wars movies or the brooding and intimidating characters in Drive and Ex Machina.
Marla Singer - Emily Blunt
It isn’t because she’s English that makes her the perfect replacement for Helena Bonham Carter. In fact, there’s nobody who could pull off what Carter does with the character of Marla Singer, but Blunt is the best option. Marla is somebody who can switch from being erratic and angry to empathetic and caring in an instant.
Blunt has always taken roles that are motherly and do the right thing and clearly show that one side of Marla, such as in movies like Sicario, Marry Poppins Returns, and A Quiet Place. However, we’ve never really seen Blunt act borderline psychotic, but that doesn’t mean she can’t do it and it’d be great to see her go against type.
The Narrator - Robert Pattinson
Over the past few years, Robert Pattinson has managed to shake off the stigma he had for his role in the Twilight series brilliantly, starring as a neurotic sociopath in Good Time and appearing in many other movies that prove he’ll be a great Batman.
Not only that, but it proves he is the perfect actor to take up the mantle of The Narrator. The way he carries himself and his slender figure highly resemble the way Edward Norton played the role originally too.
