Death is back as the ultimate inescapable antagonist in Final Destination: Bloodlines, and the franchise's next installment will shake up the formula. Final Destination started life as a spec script for an episode of The X-Files by Jeffrey Reddick, under the title “Flight 180.” 2000's Final Destination proved to be a surprise smash hit thanks to its simple but ingenious premise, the creativity of its deaths, and refraining from showing Death as a flesh and blood killer but instead depicting it as an unstoppable force of nature.
Several sequels later, 2011's Final Destination 5 received surprisingly strong reviews for regaining the sense of fun inherent to the series. While the Final Destination series has been dormant for a while, it was always a solid earner for New Line both theatrically and on home media, with the five films collectively grossing hundreds of millions worldwide. Despite this, it seemed that the Final Destination franchise might be over — but with recent news of a forthcoming "re-imagining" on the horizon, Final Destination: Bloodlines has helped the franchise cheat death yet again.

Final Destination: Bloodlines Latest News
A Second Trailer For Bloodlines Is Revealed
A few months after the first teaser arrived, the latest news comes in the form of a second trailer for Final Destination: Bloodlines. Unlike the original teaser, which was essentially a full scene from the film, the newest trailer actually gives a lot of insight into Bloodlines' plot. Starting with an extremely tense scene at a family cookout, the trailer then introduces the family matriarch, who explains to her granddaughter how she cheated death by saving hundreds of people in the past. Now, she believes that their family is doomed, and that death is coming for all of them.
The trailer then shows a variety of gruesome deaths, including a lawn mower incident, the collapse of the Seattle space needle, and maybe even a familiar vehicular accident. One shot even features a scrapbook which has callbacks to the most infamous scenes from the film series. Finally, Tony Todd's William Bloodworth returns, and he advises someone to accept death in order to escape its wrath.

Death Returns Once Again In 2025
With 2025 being the 25th year since the release of the original Final Destination, there was a lot of pressure to get Final Destination: Bloodlines on the schedule for that year. As such, Warner Bros. has now penciled the horror sequel in for a May 16, 2025, release, setting the movie up to be a potential early summer blockbuster. The sixth movie will have one week of IMAX screenings during that month, and there is little competition on the schedule for now.
Final Destination 5 was released on August 12, 2011.

Who Will Appear In Number 6?
Though Tony Todd was the only confirmed cast member when the film was officially announced, his return as series regular Bludworth is supplemented by an all-new ensemble of young stars. Unfortunately, little is known about their characters, but Brec Bassinger (Stargirl) is Iris, Teo Briones (Chucky) is Charlie, and Kaitlyn Santa Juana (The Flash) is Stefanie, the lead roles. Beyond the lead actors, Final Destination 6 will need a bunch of characters to kill off, and Richard Harmon, Anna Lore, Owen Patrick Joyner, Max Lloyd-Jones, Rya Kihlstedt, and Tinpo Lee will play ing roles.

Final Destination: Bloodlines Story Details
The Sixth Movie Will Change Everything
The plot of Final Destination: Bloodlines is surprisingly one of the most already-discussed aspects of the movie. Franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick explained (via Hidden Remote) that the movie “is not just going to be another kind of ‘we set up a group of people, they cheat death, and then just death gets them." Reddick added "…this is a true Final Destination movie, but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve kind of established."
death has come to collect, and it's up to the surviving relatives to piece everything together before they are all killed.
Since those initial teases, a clearer picture of the plot of Bloodlines has been made available thanks to the movie's trailers. The new movie will follow a family who are apparently cursed by death because the family matriarch once saved many lives at the Space Needle in Seattle. Now, death has come to collect, and it's up to the surviving relatives to piece everything together before they are all killed.

With only a few months until the movie's premiere, a trailer for Final Destination: Bloodlines was dropped in February 2025. Essentially an extended scene from the movie, the trailer features a grieving tattoo artist as he cleans up his shop while tattooing himself. A chain gets caught in the ceiling fan at the same time that it accidentally snags his nose ring. Coincidentally, cleaning fluid spills and is ignited by a falling lamp. The character frees himself only to fall in a flaming pool of chemicals.
After the exhilarating first teaser, a full trailer for Final Destination: Bloodlines arrived in March 2025. Opening with a tense scene at a family cookout, the trailer then explains that the family is cursed by death because the grandma once saved hundreds of lives by averting a disaster in classic Final Destination fashion. Now, death has come to collect because the remaining family weren't meant to exist in the first place, and they must somehow evade destruction while also breaking the decades-long curse.
