With the release of most anticipated expansions of 2024, and the ability to fly is just one reason for that. For the most part, Aether Currents are hidden in the field, and getting to them can be as simple as taking a quick walk or completing a complicated jumping puzzle.

To get started, make sure you have the Aether Com. This can be found by going to the Duty menu and selecting "Collection." The com can be dragged down onto your hotbar, so you don't have to search for it each time. You'll run into some of the currents in Shaaloani during Main Story Quests, but you'll also need to seek out the overworld currents alongside completing some side quests.

Where To Find All Shaaloani Aether Currents In Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail

Find All 10

Map of Shaaloani in Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail, with aether current locations numbered 1-10

Unlike in the previous three zones, you can find all of the "overworld" currents right upon reaching Shaaloani. Make sure you've got your Aether Com in your hotbar, then get exploring and unlock the power of flight. Flying is even more efficient than the Mountain Dew/Final Fantasy 14 collab mount when it comes to traversal, so hunting down aether currents should be a high priority. Shaaloani's pretty flat, so you won't have a hard time spotting currents once you get close:

2

These 10 aether currents are all available with no qualifications once you reach Shaaloani, so get to exploring to find them all! None of these require any tricky jumps or puzzles, but will require some time simply to track down. You'll need to do some quests for the final five currents needed to unlock flying in the Shaaloani region of FF14: Dawntrail.
