A Portuguese trailer showcacoming Square Enix revealed FFXVI during PlayStation's September 2020 State of Play event.

The four-minute-long "Awakening Trailer" most notably showcased snippets of in-game footage and gameplay, all captured on a PC. Of course, fans were also treated to a fair few hints about what the story for Final Fantasy XVI may entail. Though details concerning the narrative and characters remain relatively scarce, new information continues to surface piecemeal. For instance, the title's official website went live back in October, letting loose fresh details and unveiling new pieces of concept art. And producer Naoki Yoshida just recently teased that fans can expect Final Fantasy XVI's gameplay to be "quite action-oriented."

Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo, Godfall, and Final Fantasy XVI. As is often the case, the end of the trailer features text concerning details about each game's status on the platform. One line, translated by Wccftech, notes that FFXVI is a timed PS5 exclusive that will come to other platforms at a later date. According to Wccftech, the translated bit of text reads as follows: "Not available on other platforms for a limited time after launching on PS5." This seems to imply that though a PC version of the next mainline Final Fantasy entry is in the works, it may not share a simultaneous release date with the PS5 iteration.

To be fair, similar text accompanied the Square Enix's and Sony's release plans for the title. After all, neither company has moved to offer specifics on the matter. And such silence will likely remain the norm until the game is much closer to release.

The close partnership between the two companies saw Intergrade upgrade on PlayStation 5.
