One Confirmed FF7: Rebirth Change To Sephiroth Makes A Lot Of Sense
Sephiroth might not be the same in FF7 Rebirth, but that could be good. Here’s everything to know about the planned changes, and why they make sense.
FF7 Rebirth Covers A Large Chunk Of FF7’s Original Plot
While FF7 Remake covered only the initial portion of the original game, extending the plot set in Midgar and Cloud’s fight against Shinra, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is expected to take it a step further and drop players into an open-world section of Gaia – the one that players of the original game would encounter immediately after the events of Midgar. Rebirth should take players to locations such as the Cosmo Canyon, Fort Condor, Mythril Mine, Gold Saucer, and the City of the Ancients.
In fact, it is expected that the story will end with the major events that take place in the City of the Ancients. There are some teases about alternative timelines, which means what plays out in the original game may not be what occurs in the second part of the remake series. However, regardless of what happens, City of the Ancients seems like the appropriate place to end the game. There is likely a lot of content to explore in the open-world offered by Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

10 Biggest Questions FF7: Rebirth Will Have To Answer
FF7 Rebirth has a lot of pressing questions to answer, and a lot of timeline issues to resolve. Here are some plot points it needs to address.
Locations such as Costa del Sol and Gongaga are also anticipated to be part of the game, as they are key locations in the original. To explore this vast open world, players will have Chocobo they can use as mounts. The State of Play presentation offered a more in-depth look at what players can expect and detailed the gameplay changes, but much will still remain a secret until Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is released for PS5 on February 29.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake and will see Cloud and his friends set off beyond the walls of Midgar to explore the world, stop Sephiroth's machinations, and see the world outside their slum prison. Now that the whispers of fate no longer guide the characters along the pre-destined path set in the original PlayStation classic Final Fantasy 7, the heroes (and villains) will shape the future. The game will still visit prominent locales and revisit crucial story points, but it will be a more significant departure from the first game from the source material.
