DLC episode focusing on Yuffie Kisaragi.
Yuffie was a secret character in the original Final Fantasy 7, but the Remake is obviously integrating her in a much more direct way. The new DLC is separate from the main story and chronicles Yuffie's trip into Midgar while helping the resistance group Avalanche.
It's not clear where Yuffie's story will end, but there is plenty of info on when the bulk of the story takes place. For anyone wondering, here's when Yuffie's story takes place compared to Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Yuffie's Story Takes Place During the Events of Final Fantasy 7 Remake
The trailer for Yuffie's story shows the young ninja arriving in Midgar around the time Cloud falls into the church in the Sector 5 Slums. Yuffie arrives in Midgar to steal some kind of "Ultimate Materia" from Shinra and ends up helping Avalanche, although a separate cell from Barrett and the others. One of the scenes in the trailer even shows Yuffie and her group near Tifa's Seventh Heaven Bar. The events of Yuffie's story run parallel to the events of the main game, and the DLC will be two chapters long. The thing that's not clear at the moment is when the DLC will end, or if it will run right up until the events at the end of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Interestingly, the new story also seems to be introducing Advent Children. It's not clear if Weiss is going to simply be a cameo battle, or if he'll play a larger role in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Yuffie's new story is one of the biggest changes the Remake project has seen to date, as in the original game Yuffie had nothing to do with the Midgar section. As a secret character, it was easy for players to miss getting Yuffie altogether in the original game, thus missing out on entire story sections in Wutai. Along with Yuffie's expanded role, Square Enix is also introducing some brand new characters. Chief among these is Sonon Kusakabe, an Avalanche member that s Yuffie as the second party member, although he's not playable.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade launches on June 10, 2021, for PS5. The Yuffie DLC launches on the same day.
