While many Legendary Pokémon have made appearances in other games, like Sun and Moon, and have been obtainable in previous events. This guide will discuss how to find and catch Cobalion in the Pokémon: Sword and Shield DLC, The Crown Tundra.

How to Find & Catch Cobalion

Cobalion in the Crown Tundra DLC of Sword and Shield

Throughout the player's experience progressing through the story, Sonia will appear in Freezington and tell the player there has been evidence of the Swords of Justice appearance in various areas of the Crown Tundra. To begin the search for Cobalion players will need to find 50 feet tracks in the Frigid Sea. Tracks found in other areas are related to one of the other Sword of Justice Legendary Pokémon. After finding all evidence of Cobalion's presence in the area by collecting 100% of the footprints, players can speak to Sonia for Cobalion's location within the Frigid Sea. Cobalion will not appear in the area until after collecting the tracks and speaking with Sonia.

Cobalion is a steel-fighting type Pokémon. Cobalion is immune to poison type Pokémon and takes little damage from bug and rock types. The best plan of action for players is to take a fire, fighting, or ground type Pokémon when attempting to catch Cobalion. However, since Cobalion is also a fighting type Pokémon, Ghost-type Pokémon like Dragapult may be useful for their immunity to fighting-type attacks. It may also take players an extended number of Pokéball throws in order to successfully catch the Pokémon. If players aren't willing to sacrifice their Master Ball, they will likely find Ultra Balls and Timer Balls to be their best options.
