If you are looking to the gates of the Raya Lucaria Academy in Liurnia, you will need to use a Elden Ring. The key is a vital item for completing a request for Thops, who wants to return to the Academy. Thankfully, there are two ways you can get the Glintstone Key to complete the request and enter the Academy.

To get the Glintstone Key, you will need to find a dragon's lair to the west of the academy. Its precise location is to the left of the Liurnia of the Lakes. The key can also be found in another location not far away from the Academy. Once you have the Glinstone Key, you can enter and find new secrets, such as Illusory Walls in the academy.

The first way to get the Glintstone Key is to find an island-like cluster of rocks between the Crystalline Woods and the Temple Quarter Site of Grace. There, you will find the Dragon's lair, and as soon as you enter, the Glintstone Dragon Smarag will awaken.

You do not need to fight Smarag to get the Glintstone Key, as you can stealthily go around the Dragon. You simply need to Lure it away and ride the Torrent. You will see a dead Academy Sorcerer here, whose body you can loot to get the Glinststone Key. Once you have the Glintstone Key, you can return to the Raya Lucaria Academy and through its gates.

Do not rush to Torrent; doing so will alert Smarag, and you will have to kill the Dragon to proceed.

If you do not wish to fight the Dragon, you can also find the Glintstone Key at a church and fulfill Sorcerer Thops's wish. The second Glintstone Key is located within the Church of the Cuckoo, located northwest of the academy's walls. The key can be looted from a corpse lying on a chandelier inside the church. To reach this awkward location, you must enter the church from the roof.

You can access the roof by climbing up and maneuvering across the rooftop section of the academy's structures via the courtyard.

Players should return to the Church of Irith in Elden Ring to grant Thops re-entry to the Raya Lucaria Academy. If you go back to the academy, you will find the poor Sorcerer dead, slumped in a chair. You can loot his body to receive the Sorcery Thops Barrier, Academy Glintstone Staff, and his Bell Bearing. The Thops's Bell Bearing can be given to the Twin Maiden Husks to purchase his wares that were available when he was alive in Elden Ring.
