CBS' newest hit Fire Country has already enjoyed two seasons on the air thus far, and now the firefighting drama will return for season 3. Produced by TV legend Jerry Bruckheimer, Fire Country follows Bode Donovan, a young convict who s the California Conservation Camp Program where he and his fellow prisoners assist in fighting California's deadly wildfires. With its mix of action and interpersonal drama, Fire Country had everything going for it when it debuted in the fall of 2022.

Despite middling reviews, Fire Country season 2 was quickly renewed for a second season, especially after a shocking cliffhanger left viewers wanting more. What sets the show apart from many of its procedural contemporaries is its emphasis on characters first, with the exciting action coming second. Even with lackluster reviews, the potential is there to not only continue to grow the original series but to possibly expand it through future Fire Country spinoffs and offshoots. CBS has already taken the next step in the Fire Country franchise by renewing the flagship series for a third season.

CBS wasted no time in renewing the character-driven firefighting drama, and the Max Thieriot-led series is expected to resume its place as one of the network's crown jewels in the 2024-2025 fall season. As such, Fire Country season 3 will keep the new timeslot it earned during season 2 when the show returns on Friday, October 18, at 9pm. The Friday night spot was a boon for the young series, and CBS is likely keen to keep that trend going into its third outing.

Fire Country season 2 concluded on May 17, 2024.

Fire Country Season 3 Cast

Who Might Return In Season 3?

Fire Country is the type of series that isn't afraid of making big moves with the cast, but season 2 left the door open for many returns. It has already been confirmed that Max Thieriot will return as Bode Donovan, and Stephanie Arcila as his love interest, Gabriela, is also expected back. Debuting characters like Rafael de la Fuente's Diego will also likely return, since he was only just introduced in season 2, and Morena Baccarin's Sheriff Mickey will continue to play a role in season 3.

In one of the biggest additions for season 3, Supernatural alum Jared Padalecki has been tapped to play veteran firefighter, Camden. The recurring role will factor heavily into season 3 as the veteran SoCal firefighter recognizes Bode's untapped potential. Padalecki's new role is also potentially up for his own spinoff, should the reception be strong enough during Fire Country season 3.

Fire Country Season 3 Story

Will Bode Confess His Love For Gabriela?

Bode on the telephone in prison with a black eye in Fire Country season 2

Fire Country season 2 ended shockingly, not because of what Bode did, but because of what he didn't do. Bode's love affair with Gabriela was ionate and strong, but he kept his mouth shut which allowed her marriage to Diego to go forward. However, the trailer for season 3 revealed that her wedding was interrupted by a disaster, and Gabriela sprung into action. Though its unclear if Gabriela ever says "I do" to Diego, she does have a steamy interaction with Bode at some point in season 3.

On the job front, the newly free Bode is dealing with an issue that many inmate firefighters face, and he is not certified to be a firefighter despite all the work he has put in over the years. This will force him to walk the straight and narrow, and could present challenges as he tries to navigate the unfair world as a formally incarcerated person who is trying to make a fresh start. Regardless of the specifics, Fire Country season 3 isn't turning down the heat, and could be even more dramatic.

Meanwhile, Bode chafes against the unfair system that makes him unqualified to be a firefighter despite his experience, and he has a romantic liaison with Gabriela at some point as well.
