Trokka is yet another main boss in The First Berserker: Khazan that is bound to get on your nerves, with a ton of oddly paced long-range attacks that require some practice to get down the timing. You'll be used to the challenge at this point, but Trokka poses an additional layer of difficulty if you haven't figured out how to effectively use combos on your build. However, there are a handful of tricks you can implement to make this fight slightly less annoying. Trokka marks the beginning of the endgame for Khazan, so congratulations, you're in the home stretch.
When you finally beat Trokka, you'll be rewarded with items from the Drowned Witch set, which is one of the best gear sets in for a spear build. Equipping the entire Drowned Witch set will give Khazan access to the Tides of Fury skill that sends out a wave of slashes with your spear and absorbs enemy stamina in the process, while also imbuing the spear with water damage and buffing Khazan's various ranged abilities (such as the Eagle Wind skill and his Javelin efficacy).
Where To Find Trokka (Location)
Trokka Is Located In Lydia's Garden During The Witch's Castle Mission
You can find Trokka at the end of the Witch's Castle main story mission in the Heart of Pell Los, Lake City Aldevir. This is a large area with many sub-regions, and I recommend exploring it thoroughly, as you'll need all the help you can get once you reach Trokka. You'll encounter a flooded area with many inaccessible locations, at least for now, and if you're a soulslike veteran, it's obvious that this water needs to be drained somewhere for access to those areas. The floodgate can be opened about halfway through Lake City Aldevir, near the Floodgate Blade Nexus.
Trokka is especially susceptible to Lightning damage, so equipping the Crushed Dreams set and going in with a lightning strategy is the most effective approach.
While venturing through Lake City Aldevir, be sure to grab the Bishop's Scroll in the Submerged Village, which will allow you to craft the Bishop's set at Khazan's blacksmith in the Crevice. You'll also pick up a few Lightning Enhancers and Concentrated Lightning Essences, which will come in very useful for the fight against Trokka. Eventually, you'll reach the Lydia's Garden Blade Nexus, and your battle against Trokka begins just beyond the boss gate.
How To Defeat Trokka (Boss Guide)
Prepare With Lightning Buffs & The Crushed Dreams Set
Trokka is a long-range fighter with a powerful umbrella that can deal massive damage if you don't manage to avoid her blasts and lunges. She also employs a ton of ranged attacks with various orbs, most of which will also deal Frost buildup. To prepare for this fight, I recommend equipping some Concentrated Lightning Essence and Water Cleanse Potions, and gearing up with the Crushed Dreams Set if possible — especially if you're a spear .
The Crushed Dreams scroll can be acquired during the "Transcendental Sword" bonus mission in Darion Castle.
The Crushed Dreams set deals inherent Lightning Damage with three pieces equipped, increases enemy electrocution damage, grants Khazan lightning effects after a brink guard, and gives you access to the Furious Drive skill — a powerful ranged thrusting ability that is highly effective with imbued lightning. All of this is to say that Trokka is susceptible to lightning damage and the fight is much easier with the Crushed Dreams set equipped.
Trokka's Move Set & Windows Of Opportunity
While Trokka is incredibly annoying with her various ranged attacks, these can be managed if you keep the pressure on her. Most of her attacks can be interrupted in multiple ways, so staying close and laying it on heavy is the method I suggest. When you're up close, watch for the glowing purple water beneath you and get ready to dodge. Attacks that can be interrupted include the Jellyfish attack (you'll know it when you see it), her three energy-sphere ranged attack, and the attack with an arc of purple orbs over her head.
Attack |
Description |
How To Avoid |
---|---|---|
Three Small Spheres |
A 3-sphere ranged attack with slightly staggered pacing |
Can be interrupted, dodged, or guarded. |
Three Large Spheres |
She conjures three large spheres and fires them in a row |
Must be brink dodged |
Purple Orb Arc |
She'll conjure an arc of orbs over her head that home in on Khazan |
Can be interrupted or brink dodged |
Three Energy Blasts |
Three staggered blasts of energy from her umbrella |
Can be interrupted or brink dodged, and guarded for minor damage |
Energy Slash (Phase 2) |
Large arcs of energy that slice through the air |
Can be interrupted or brink dodged |
Jellyfish Explosion |
Summons a circle of jellyfish that explode and deal damage |
Can be interrupted, or you need to run outside the AoE |
Tidal Wave |
She slams her umbrella in the water and a wave of water hits you |
Can be guarded or dodged |
Umbrella Charge |
Charges up her umbrella and rushes at you |
Can't be interrupted, must be brink dodged |
Umbrella Stab |
Impales you with the umbrella |
Must be brink dodged (might be interruptable?) |
Umbrella Melee |
Swings the umbrella like a greatsword |
Brink guard or Reflect these for easy stamina damage |
Underwater Teleport |
Trokka will dive into the water and emerge far away, or dive in from far away and emerge underneath you, dealing massive damage. |
Dodge or run out of the AoE |
Water Swell |
While at close range, Trokka creates a purple swell that deals damage from below |
Dodge or run away to avoid AoE |
Flying Jellyfish (Phase 2 Start) |
Trokka flies into the air and encircles the arena, shooting orbs and a barrage of spheres, with red and blue jellyfish scattered around the arena. She will unleash homing spheres and then dive at you to complete the sequence. |
Dodge orbs and/or sprint around the arena, using blue jellyfish for stamina boost. Brink dodge final homing spheres and her dive. |
Rain Storm |
Trokka stands in one place to summon rain and thunder clouds that linger around the arena, dealing water damage and following your location. |
Can be interrupted, but instead throw a Concentrated Lightning Essence to deal easy damage |
Trokka has two phases, though attacks in both phases are quite similar. The second phase starts after she flies into the air and starts circling around the arena, firing orbs at you in the process. There will be blue and red jellyfish around the perimeter of the arena as well. My recommendation for clearing this attack is to dodge the initial damage-dealing orb and then continue to sprint in one direction to avoid the barrage, aiming for the blue jellyfish to give yourself a stamina boost. Alternatively, you can dodge side to side while staying close to a blue jellyfish.

The First Berserker Khazan: All Jarling Locations & Rewards
There are 44 different Jarlings spread out across the various areas in The First Berserker: Khazan, so don't forget to smash these jars as you go.
One excellent opportunity for damage is when Trokka stops to summon rain clouds in the arena. Throw a Concentrated Lightning Essence at her when you see the clouds forming, as this will deal massive damage and drain her health bar significantly while you simply run around to avoid the rain. Alternatively, you can attack her and the clouds will disappear. If you have a Spirit of Advocacy with you, they'll likely interrupt this attack, and you won't have that opportunity, so I actually don't recommend one for this fight for that reason.
All Rewards For Beating Trokka
The Drowned Witch Set Is Water-Damage Gear For The Spear
When you finally manage to take Trokka down, you'll be rewarded with two random pieces of the Drowned Witch Set, and possibly a Witch's Tentacle — the special crafting material required to craft items from the Drowned Witch Set. These drop randomly, so you aren't guaranteed a crafting material. Aside from this, you'll receive the usual Lacrima and gold rewards, as well as one random weapon or accessory and some Transmutation Mist. Lastly, you'll receive Trokka's Letter and learn about her relationship with Ozma.

The First Berserker: Khazan - How To Beat Aratra (Boss Guide)
Aratra is the fifth major boss in The First Berserker: Khazan, and if you aren't a fan of spiders, you'll want to avoid this boss at all costs.
Overall, Trokka is one of the most frustrating bosses you'll face in The First Berserker: Khazan if you haven't figured out the timing for some of her moves. She is especially susceptible to Lightning damage, so equipping the Crushed Dreams set and going in with a lightning strategy is the most effective approach. You may need to adjust your playstyle if you've been using the greatsword, as it's not necessarily ideal against Trokka.
