Flash Gordon's Creative Team Knows What Makes the Character Tick
2024 marks 90 years of Flash Gordon. Created by Alex Raymond for King Features Syndicate as a competition for the popular Buck Rogers strip, Flash Gordon would become popular in its own right. Since his debut, Flash Gordon has appeared in comic strips, comic books, novels and TV shows. Most notably, he appeared in a 1980 cult-classic film starring Sam Jones, Melody Anderson and Max Von Sydow. The property has been dormant for many years, but King Features is giving the franchise a much-needed boost. In addition to Mad Cave’s new title, artist Dan Schkade drew a new daily strip.
Writer Jeremy Adams, who writes the adventures of Green Lantern, another hot-shot science fiction hero, brings that same sense of excitement, adventure and danger to Flash Gordon.

Mad Cave Is Preparing Flash Gordon For a Major Comeback
Flash Gordon is one of the most influential English-language comic strips ever published. It has influenced generations of science fiction writers, artists and filmmakers, including George Lucas. According to legend, Lucas wanted to make a Flash Gordon film. When he was denied the rights, he made Star Wars instead. Despite being such an influential property, Flash Gordon’s popularity among the public has waned. Mad Cave’s new title looks to change that. In the hands of Adams and Conrad, Flash Gordon is ready for a comeback.
