One of the most popular relationships on Arrowverse as a whole is the Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) romance. For over five years, the CW drama has portrayed the iconic comic relationship on-screen as Barry and Iris have become one of the biggest shipping fandoms in the Arrowverse. With some of the best chemistry in Greg Berlanti’s DC TV Universe, the couple has been going strong for several seasons now.
With such a big fandom behind the WestAllen relationship comes a lot of fun reactions and memes all over the Internet. Here are the 10 most hilarious WestAllen memes that will definitely give you some good laughs.
Alternative Civil War
The clash that sometimes happens within The Flash fandom is between the WestAllen and SnowBarry fans. SnowBarry is the couple name that people use for Barry and Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), despite the fact that there has never been 1% of romantic sparks between the two. Since the inception of the show, the two of them have been nothing but good friends and allies.
With that being said, imagine if Captain America: Civil War had been a whole different fight? What if Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) argued over these two ships? Furthermore, picture the amazing scene of Captain America being a WestAllen shipper.
Intimate Relations
While Sherloque Wells, one of the many Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), didn’t have a lot of strong moments in Season 5, this meme should have happened. Right after Nora West-Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy) had been taken home to the future, Iris was determined to get her back. Especially since Barry didn’t even give Iris a chance to say goodbye to Nora.
Imagine if Sherloque, who definitely loved to talk (a lot), had been flippant about this instead? Instead of time traveling all the way to 2049, he could have simply proposed an easier practical way to bring Nora “home.”
Hot Injuries
When you are the Scarlet Speedster of Central City, you probably get injured quite a lot. Some injuries are probably worse than others, depending on whatever metahuman Barry is taking on. If it’s a bad day with Gorilla Grodd or King Shark, probably expect some rather severe injuries.
However, imagine if Iris and Barry, all alone as she treats his bruises or scars, decide to get a bit flirtatious to spice up the moment. Even if there are kids around, this meme makes it clear what Barry is thinking about.
Iris: The Spider-Slayer
Barry has taken on a lot of different antagonists in the past five seasons of the series. From two villainous speedsters, an evil version of himself, an overthinking professor, a grunting serial killer with a lightning bolt dagger, and talking sharks and gorillas. However, it’s not very often when we see Barry actually being deeply afraid of something.
A universal fear that many can probably relate to though is spiders. It can be as big or as small as possible and it can still freak people out. Imagine Barry going to Iris to take care of it and her hilarious reaction to it.
Anything for His Boo
Since the pilot of the series, it was made perfectly clear how deeply Barry loves Iris. Whether it was Barry looking sad at her with his puppy eyes or him being incredibly petty with Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett), it was clear that he truly loves her.
It’s not hard to imagine that Barry would do anything for his boo. Picture him having a moment with his daughter when he makes it perfectly clear the lengths he is willing to go for Iris. Could you imagine a Barry Allen who steals for his wonderful wife?
Serious Morning People
As big Flash fans, do you know if Barry and Iris are morning persons or if they love sleeping in and getting up late? It will probably never get answered, but imagine if they had breakfast in a whole different way.
Getting a call from Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) at, for example, 7 am in the morning while enjoying some “breakfast,” would probably not sit well with them. Move over Netflix and chill, “breakfast” is here to stay.
Easter Fools Day
It’s a shame that The Flash barely shows us Barry’s prankster-y side because something tells us he would be very creative. Unfortunately, when your city is filled with criminal metahumans or nasty evil speedsters, you just do not have time to pull a lot of pranks on people in your life.
However, imagine Barry as a father who loves messing with his kids. The idea of him combining April Fools Day with Easter, to lie about eggs that he never hid, is genius. To any parents wanting to have a friendly prank with your kids: Barry presents to you Easter Fools Day.
Eyes for Iris
when Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten) was on the show? For those who need a quick – no pun intended – recap: Patty was a new detective at the CD for the first half of Season 2 and a very temporary love interest for Barry. If you follow the comics and the clear signs in Season 1, you knew that there was only one true love for Barry and her name isn’t Patty.
Picture a scenario where Barry, while on a date with Patty, saw right through her to watch Iris enter a room looking as glorious as ever. He only has eyes for her and always will. Sorry not sorry, Patty.
Honest Weekend
For those who have watched The Flash since the beginning should know by now that Iris is one of the most honest people on the show. That’s a Flash fact, without a doubt. However, what would a very honest Iris West-Allen be like?
It would probably go something like this meme. If Central City just didn’t have any criminal activity going on, it’s fair to say that Barry and Iris would definitely be busy with each other. Like, all the time.
No Banana, Just the Couch
In Season 5, there was an early episode where Iris was really trying to make some pleasant family memories with her husband and their future daughter. However, it appears that no matter what timeline Iris is in, making breakfast isn’t her strong suit.
In the original version of this scene, Barry, with love, lies to her about her "wonderful" breakfast. She can tell that her man isn’t the best at lying and offers to “make” him a banana, however that works. But imagine if Iris threw a little pettiness towards Barry’s way and subtly, but hilariously punished him for his honesty?
