Fleabag did a lot more than break the fourth wall, but it really made a lot of waves through the industry when this hilarious British sitcom premiered on Amazon Video. With 2 Golden Globe wins, Phoebe Waller-Bridge became a well-known comedic genius who everyone couldn't help but love.
With tragedy mixed brilliantly with humor, there's also a lot of dynamic and totally unique characters to come and go from this series. While everyone has their moments in Fleabag, there are definitely some characters that always warrant a laugh. It's time to finally decide who the funniest ones actually are.
Least: Martin
There probably isn't a character as unlikable as Martin, and that makes him a pretty great candidate for also being the least funny. Martin is rude, selfish, condescending, and honestly, pretty creepy.
Despite having a pretty horrible personality, he really isn't funny. He's mostly serious, and when he's not, he's only laughing at himself while making fun of Fleabag or trying to be remotely decent to Claire. The only one laughing at Martin is Martin.
Dad
Fleabag's father is funny in a more wholesome and kind of pitiful way. He doesn't really go out of his way to make jokes, but he's easy to laugh with and get along with. Certainly, Fleabag and him have some troubles; especially with the Godmother.
Still, Dad is actually a pretty sweet and innocent guy, and he always tries to do good for his family. While it's not really laughing with, laughing at Dad's cute attempts definitely deserves a bit of recognition.
Harry
Harry is one Fleabag character that comes and goes, as the main character's on-and-off-again boyfriend. He has a heart way too big for this series, and he's also a character that kind of warrants a lot more sympathy and big hugs more than some laughs.
Still, without trying, Harry can be kind of hilarious. From his dinosaur to his romantic attempts at keeping Fleabag monogamous, he warrants a chuckle here and there, but again, it's mostly out of pity for the guy.
Arsehole Guy
Fans will probably this nameless heartthrob as the arm candy that Fleabag brings along to some family gatherings. He doesn't really have much of a personality, but that's what makes him a bit hilarious.
He's kind of distant from planet earth, and he's just there to look pretty and have a good time. However, it's kind of entertaining, and his mindless flirting with Godmother is as cringy as it is pretty hilarious.
Bank Manager
There probably isn't a character in Fleabag who has the same dry wit and humor as the bank manager. Again, nameless, he comes and goes in some pretty terribly awkward moments. Still, he actually has a decent heart.
His conversations with Fleabag are always worthy of a head shake, but he's humorous in that he's straight to the point and he really isn't afraid to tell it like it is. Plus, him wearing an apron and helping at the café was hilarious in itself.
Boo
Boo is kind of the tragic part of Fleabag, but she's funny because she truly was just a bright light. She was authentically herself, and she had a free-spirit and open mind that just made her totally pure - and funny in a 'laugh with her' kind of way.
She never really tried to be funny, and certainly wasn't one for jokes, but there's something so innocent and wholesome about Boo that it's hard not to smile at anything she says. Plus, her big heart and love for guinea pigs definitely warranted some laughs.
Godmother
The Godmother is definitely Fleabag's biggest hurdle, but that doesn't mean this character still can't have some pretty hysterical moments. She's definitely not afraid to speak her mind, and despite if it's rude or overly blunt, sometimes it's kind of hilarious.
From her head-to-head moments over a statue with Fleabag to her very, very sexual art gallery, Godmother's pompous and free-spirited attitude definitely comes with some fast quips and funny moments.
Claire
On the surface, Claire certainly doesn't even try to be funny. However, her uptight nature, ruthless determination and reliability makes some of her moments absolutely hilarious. From her new haircut to all the hard stares at Fleabag, it's easy to laugh with Claire.
Beyond her dry and moments of being annoyed, there are definitely times where Claire opens up and has fun with her sister. While there are a few instances she does ridiculous things, they are all pretty hilarious.
The Priest
It isn't just Fleabag who has fallen head over heels for the Priest. He's not only handsome, but he's intelligent, fun, kind, and absolutely hilarious. He's quick-witted, and totally confident in throwing out some sarcasm and quips.
From his obsession with the Priest's clothing to his banter with Fleabag, the Priest is beyond easy to laugh with - and at. It's no doubt he's one of the funniest characters the series has to offer.
Most: Fleabag
It probably isn't any surprise that Fleabag herself is the most hysterical character. From breaking the fourth wall to her sarcastic side comments to saying just about anything on her mind, Fleabag is as awkward and cringy as she is totally funny.
Fans will never forget her confession at the circle or her worst moments with her Godmother or the Bank Manager. Fleabag is just funny in her nature, and while she might actually be the only character that tries to be, it certainly works.
