Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn has a simpler, more straightforward story than the average Soulslike, culminating in a clear ending that ties up many (if not all) of the story's loose ends. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in which humanity is under siege by monstrous gods and the living dead, Flintlock follows a hardened soldier named Nor. Nor is one of a group that style themselves Sappers. Staunch defenders of the remnants of humanity, the Sappers maintain fragile dominion over the safe city of Dawn.

The story of Flintlock begins proper when Nor's adoptive father, Baz, leaves the safety of the city walls on a mission into enemy territory. She follows him, but things go south when their party is attacked by the crazed god Uru. Nor is knocked unconscious, but survives, and wakes up to a mysterious, talking fox named Enki by her side. Together, the two travel the world, searching for allies, defeating undead monsters, and rebuilding the fractured world, piece by piece. Eventually, Nor discovers that Enki himself is the god of death, locked in a centuries-long struggle against Uru. This drives a wedge between them, but understanding the whole of Enki's past, they set out to defeat their common enemy.

Can You Keep Playing Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn After Beating The Game?
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn has plenty of side content, but can players come back to finish it after finishing the story and beating the final boss?
The Final Boss Of Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn Is Uru
Nor Gets Her Revenge
Nor and Enki eventually track down Uru, and come upon the portal behind which he lurks. He briefly begs them to free him, reminding them that he's imprisoned in the Great Below, and that killing Enki is his only means of escape. He does that imminently, and promises to inflict eternal suffering on Enki. Thus begins the final battle against Uru.
Uru is a large, winged beast, who fights, much like Nor, using a combination of melee and ranged attacks. He'll shoot wisps of magic at her from across the arena, or jump into the air and cut down the middle with a giant beam of light. At other times, he'll slam down on top of Nor, or simply rear up on his hind legs and grab her with his claws. Ultimately, though, the first phase of Uru is not all that tough of a boss. As long as they're sufficiently leveled up and have decent, upgraded gear, players can apply the same strategies they've used throughout Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn to defeat the first phase quickly.
After Uru's health bar is depleted, he'll fall, and Nor will wonder whether the fight is truly over. It's not; Uru immediately rises again, but Enki holds him at bay in a web of lightning. He explains to Nor that he'll have to go back down Below with Uru in order to keep him contained effectively. After thanking her for helping him face his fears and get this far, he disappears into the Great Below. Despite his protests, Nor follows Enki, reminding him that she considers him a fellow Sapper.

Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn Hands-On Preview - A Satisfying Hybrid Of Fantasy & Firearms
Screen Rant went hands-on with the game Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn at SGF to learn more about the soulslite's fast combat and unique world.
In the Below, Nor is immediately cornered by Uru. He claims that Enki is "gone," and Nor will have to fight the second half of the battle alone. Without Enki, Uru is significantly harder, and he has some new area of effect attacks to show for it. Besides his usual moves, Uru will cover the battlefield with lightning, and occasionally place down rippling orbs of Nor-attracting gravity magic. Halfway through the battle, Enki will return, although not in his original form - he zaps Uru with his own lightning from time to time, offering "a show of good faith." Enki deals the final blow himself, destroying Uru's prison in a burst of lightning.
Enki's usual role is to deal small amounts of magic damage to enemies. Nor can augment this with different accessories, which may change the element of his damage, or apply a status effect buildup. There's also a meter in Enki's UI that, once filled, allows him to unleash a devastating attack that holds enemies down, allowing Nor to attack to her heart's content.
Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn's Ending Suggests More Adventures For Nor & Enki
Hints At DLC Or A Sequel?
With Uru defeated, Enki grows to his full size, standing at least twice Nor's height. She comments that she always knew he had another, truer form. Enki's growth here represents his increased courage: he's grown large enough, in strength and in spirit, to face his former rival. And with Nor's help, he's defeated him.
But with the prison destroyed, Enki chastises Nor for following him. He reminds her that there's no way out - Uru sealed the portal in his final moments, so the two are trapped in the Great Below. Again, Nor reminds him that she'd never leave a fellow Sapper behind, and jokes that she wouldn't trust him to defeat Uru alone.

Soulslikes Are Finally Becoming Soulslites, & They're Better For It
The evolution of soulslikes is showing how far FromSoftware’s ideas can be stretched before they lose their impact, and it makes the future exciting.
Together, they stare out into the distance as Enki says "You gave up everything for me. Allow me to make it up to you." Nor replies, "Lead the way," and the camera pans out to show a blue-green crystal gleaming far away.
This suggests that players haven't heard the last of Nor and Enki - there may be a DLC or a sequel to Flintlock coming in the future. Exactly what they'll look like is unclear, but it'll apparently star the two as they journey through the Great Below, taking down violent old gods as usual. Of course, there's been no word from developer A44, and it'll probably take some time until there is. However, there's a clear tease here for a second entry.
And that's a good thing, because there are a handful of questions left open for another entry to answer. What happens to Dawn in the wake of Uru's defeat, whether Nor ever returns from the Great Below, and what exactly that blue crystal is remain to be seen. Although its main story is neatly wrapped up by the ending, there's plenty left to explore in a sequel to Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn.
