The Five Nights At Freddy’s books have guided fans towards making their predictions for what will be included in Ruin, the DLC for FNAF: Security Breach. The Fazbear Frights book series confirmed several important theories that helped players better understand the canon universe of Five Nights At Freddy’s, and it established the influence that the supernatural events that occurred in the games had in the outside world. With common returning themes throughout the stories, the books might contain relevant information that could influence the future of the franchise.

Although the stories themselves aren’t canon to the game’s universe, the concepts depicted by the books have helped to establish the foundation for the canon lore of Five Nights At Freddy’s. The novel trilogy presented the first indications of a person’s essence being preserved through robotic parts and revealed the name of the main villain of the series, William Afton. The new Fazbear Frights book series follows this thread, revealing major plot points that were previously missed by players, such as how the Golden Freddy animatronic houses two different souls. And these revelations have been referenced throughout the games, allowing players to create their own predictions based on the books.

As new books are released, more and more concepts are introduced which could be used in the games as major plot points that could solve FNAF’s biggest mysteries. Time travel and gadgets that can be used to see invisible objects and animatronics are two themes that were present in the earlier installments of the Fazbear Frights series but were never included in the games. Other themes that have grown common with the release of the books are also the use of positivity to combat the hauntings and cloning and replacing people using Fazbear technology, which could appear in the new DLC for Security Breach.

Time Travel Could Be Part Of FNAF Security Breach

The cover of the book reads: "Five Nights At Freddy's: Fazbear Frights #1 Into The Pit". In the cover, there is a yellow bunny animatronic coming out of a ball pit.

One of the supernatural themes explored in the books that still hasn’t appeared in the games is time travel, and it has a great possibility of being in Security Breach’s DLC. Although it’s a topic that seems to not completely fit into the FNAF franchise, in the first Fazbear Frights book, Into The Pit, a teenage boy travels between a past and future versions of a Freddy Fazbear Pizzeria by jumping into a time-travelling ball pit. In the story, this allowed him to witness the event that led to the haunting of the animatronics and the boy being pursued by the past version of the culprit for the murders, William Afton. While some considered its main story elements to be completely absurd, even for a franchise like Five Nights At Freddy’s, considering what appears in the teaser image, time travel could return in Ruin.

When FNAF's Pizzaplex, inspired by real arcades, appeared in Security Breach, it seemed completely functional, with shows and repairs happening throughout its extension. However, in the teaser image for Ruin, it looks completely ruined, with the statue of Glamrock Freddy that appeared in the initial trailers for the game completely crumbled and destroyed. Not only that, but there are multiple versions of Gregory appearing in the monitors, as if there are several events occurring at the same time. These signals could be pointing to time travel becoming an official theme explored in the games, with the DLC protagonist potentially traveling through time using a similar system as the one seen In Into The Pit while trying to help Gregory.

There Could Be Gregory Clones In Security Breach DLC

The Ruin teaser artwork depicting several monitors with different images of Gregory, with the cover of The Cliffs, a FNAF book, replacing the Security Breach logo. The cover of the book depicts a destroyed version of a plush Freddy and it reads: "Five Nights At Freddy's: Fazbear Frights #7 The Cliffs".

Another common theme present in the books that could appear in Security Breach’s DLC is clones replacing the original individual, according to Ruin’s cryptic teaser artwork. In the Fazbear Frights book series this topic is present in several stories, such as Lonely Freddy, To Be Beautiful, and He Told Me Everything. The books discussed at length how people, especially children, could be cloned and replaced when in with certain Fazbear technology, but this theme was never properly explored in the games. And while its depiction in the books is often considered absurd, it could make a return in the new Security Breach DLC.

In the official teaser image for Ruin, there are multiple pictures of Gregory in the monitors above the statue and near the title. This could imply that the player will be interacting with security footage in the game and, since the events depicted in them seem to be occurring simultaneously, could indicate that Gregory has been made a victim to Fazbear Entertainment’s cloning technology. One of the main aspects that made Five Nights At Freddy’s such a popular horror franchise is how its supernatural themes are depicted in the story, and considering that duplicating people is such a prominent aspect of the books, this theme could make a proper appearance in the games through Ruin.

FNAF: Security Breach's DLC Protagonist Could Be Invisible

Another theme that appeared in the Fazbear Frights book series was of certain gadgets allowing people to see hidden objects. In the story Dance With Me, present in the fourth book of the series, Step Closer, the protagonist is able to see an invisible version of Ballora through special glasses taken from a Fazbear location. Although this theme wasn’t explored in the games and the gadget was mostly used as a symbolic appearance of guilt within the series, it could make an appearance in the DLC for Security Breach, considering the depictions of the Pizzaplex and the characters in the main teaser image.

The teaser image for Ruin could signify another connection between FNAF: Security Breach and the books. In it, there is a girl who is believed to be the protagonist of the DLC who is the only asset that remains in black and white. MatPat, on The Game Theorists YouTube channel suggests that this might mean that she’s not fully inside the Pizzaplex, like Gregory was in the original game. While it’s unknown if she’ll be the main character in the DLC, this lack of color and the discrepancies present between the Pizzaplex in the original Security Breach and the one in Ruin might indicate that her travels through the location will occur through a gadget similar to the one present in Dance With Me.

FNAF's Ruin DLC Could Finally Free William Afton

Another theme that has a frequent appearance in the Fazbear Frights book series is how animatronics can be haunted by the bad memories, guilt, and agony of its previous spirit. While this hasn’t been explored in the games, William Afton, in one of Security Breach's endings, is using his suffering, bad memories, and twisted intentions to control others through the Glitchtrap virus and haunt the Springtrap suit. However, in the books, positive memories can be used to free souls that are haunting other objects or animatronics, and according to a theory made by MatPat, this theme could return in Ruin.

MatPat suggests that the girl in the teaser image could be one of William’s positive memories, running through the ruins of her father’s mind to destroy his agony-filled creations. He highlights the fact that she’s the only asset in the artwork that is in black and white, appearing to not being entirely present in the Pizzaplex. According to MatPat, she could even represent Afton’s daughter, Elizabeth, who had tragically died to an incident involving Circus Baby, making a final return in Ruin to end her father’s rampage, and finally freeing his soul.

FNAF's lore partly came from wild fan theories and the Fazbear Frights books have been very helpful in signaling to what could appear in future entries of the franchise. Not only do they share common themes with the games, but also reveal what takes place between two entries and how the events at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria affect other residents of this universe. And with two other books coming out soon in the new FNAF: Tales From The Pizzaplex series, there will be plenty of clues to what could be hidden in the next Five Nights At Freddy’s entry.
