Summary
- Netflix's Fool Me Once has sured 3 billion minutes viewed on the Nielsen streaming chart.
- This makes it the first original streaming title to do so since the March 2023 release of Netflix's The Night Agent.
- The success of the show could lead to a potential continuation, but it seems unlikely due to the next two Coben adaptations already in development.
Fool Me Once has ed a major viewership milestone for Netflix. The British show is an eight-part limited series adapting the Harlan Coben novel of the same name, which follows a pair of intertwined murder cases in which at least one of the victims may not be as dead as they seemed. The show, which was adapted by Danny Brocklehurst, features an ensemble cast that includes Michelle Keegan, Dino Fetscher, Richard Armitage, Joanna Lumley, Adeel Akhtar, Emmett J. Scanlan, and Marcus Garvey.
Per Netflix's Fool Me Once has landed in the overall Top 10, unseating Prime Video's Reacher from No. 1 with more than 3 billion minutes viewed. This marks the first time that an original title has ed that huge 3 billion milestone since the release of the Netflix action-thriller show The Night Agent in March 2023.
Will There Be More Fool Me Once?
Given the show's success, it makes sense that Netflix could be considering continuing the show beyond the Fool Me Once ending. Historically, quite a few shows that were intended to be limited series or miniseries have been expanded after attracting a huge audience, both on network television and streaming. Some prominent examples include CBS Stephen King adaptation Under the Dome and Prime Video's Good Omens.
Good Omens season 1 adapted the Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett novel of the same name, while season 2 and the season 3 tell original stories set in the same universe.
However, a Fool Me Once continuation seems somewhat unlikely as Netflix's expansive deal with Coben has already set its next two adaptations of his work. The next two Coben shows in development, which are also British adaptations, are Missing You and Run Away, the latter of which also has Fool Me Once writer Danny Brocklehurst attached. It seems likely that those projects, particularly Run Away, may have their connections to Fool Me Once emphasized, but as the limited series has already adapted the entire novel, there may not be a reason for a direct continuation.

Netflix’s Fool Me Once Replacement Is Way More Exciting Than Another Season
The perfect replacement for Netflix's Fool Me Once is already on the way, and it manages to be even more exciting than getting a season two.
However, Netflix could more determinedly pursue Fool Me Once if those projects don't bring in the same level of audience. The streamer has already released several Coben adaptations that haven't had the same cultural sway as the new outing, including 2020's The Stranger and 2021's Stay Close, both of which featured the involvement of Brocklehurst. Should Run Away fizzle out, a follow-up - possibly titled Fool Me Twice - would likely seem much more enticing.
