With Epic Games' prolific battle royale is known not just for its large, carefully orchestrated reveals and surprises, but also for its propensity for leaks. Though likely unintentional, Fortnite leaks have served as a form of consistent viral marketing for the game, and its online community has been on the hunt for any and all Chapter 3 information.
The Fortnite Chapter 3's map, but how it will happen was previously unclear.
An official Fortnite Chapter 3 ad on TikTok spotted by cooper17571967 on Twitter may have the answer. The vertical teaser trailer opens on a peaceful scene of Chapter 2 Season 8's map before hinting at an unknown aerial threat, at which point there are quick cuts to an explosion and Agent Jonesy being sucked underwater. The final scene may tease the spectacle Fortnite's The End event holds for live viewers, as the whole of The Island can be seen flipping over to dispel an invading force of UFOs as Jonesy watches on. At this point, a brief reveal of Fortnite Chapter 3's map is shown.
Though this isn't the first Chapter 3 leak (an earlier Fortnite Chapter 3 loading screen leak exposed the key art from the Chapter 2 finale teaser before it premiered), it gives a telling look at Chapter 2's ending and Chapter 3's map refresh. It appears the alien invasion theme of Chapter 2 Season 7 will make a reprisal during The End event, as the menacing flying saucers and presumably Cube Queen-commanded mothership seen hovering over The Island are extraterrestrial in origin. The disc-shaped UFOs bear a striking resemblance to Season 7's Mothership, whose destruction may have only been the beginning of a much larger attack.
An initial look has been given at the Chapter 3 map thanks to the TikTok leak, but it was a very brief and limited one. Everything changing in Fortnite Chapter 3 largely remains a mystery for now, and the full events of Chapter 2's finale likely remain far from spoiled by the 30-second teaser. While some hints have been given, the end of Fortnite Chapter 2 and how Chapter 3's map will come into being will be fully explained on December 4.
