Fortnite has begun its latest chapter and season with a unique Japanese theme and with one of the most interesting bosses added to Chapter 6, Season 1. The new bosses and super enemies can spawn across the map, making it an interesting and challenging encounter for all players. Fortnite adds bosses with unique attacks that fit the game's current season's themes. One of the most interesting bosses this season is Shogun X, who must be beaten more than once for maximum rewards.

These boss battles are dangerous displays of defeating the boss but battling off other players to acquire the mythical loot that drops from them. Shogun X has a range of mythical weapons, medallions, or cosmetics that can be dropped, but there are always fantastic upgrades that can help your odds of winning a match. Due to its roaming possibilities, Shogun X presents a unique challenge compared to some of the other bosses Fortnite has featured. Players looking to fight Shogun X should plan their matches strategically to fight both of the versions of him that can be found.

How To Find & Beat Shogun X While Roaming

Shogun X Appears In Two Main Ways

Shogun X, when roaming, is an incredibly dangerous enemy that requires tracking and planning to defeat him. He can appear in two ways: teleporting across the island or on a floating island later in a match. When you first find him, he can be spotted with the black and white Oni mask on your map.

While Shogun X cannot be killed during this phase, if players deal enough damage they will be rewarded with a powerful shotgun and a helpful item.

Since there is no way to defeat Shogun X during his roaming times entirely, his randomized respawn points allow this fight to be basically farmed for Mythic Weapons throughout the match. While it may be challenging to keep an eye on Shogun X and stay alive, going after Shogun X will guarantee you a weapon upgrade and XP. Shogun X has a limited moveset that deals incredible damage, so players should know what they face. When Shogun X hits about 25% health, he will relocate and can be beaten as often as players can manage until Storm 3 in a match.

Defeat Shogun X For The Final Time

The other time that he appears is later in a match. A floating island appears after the fourth circle in a match, and Shogun X shows up there. This island can appear anywhere on the map. You will need to use Fortnite's air Sprite to fly up the wind vortex to land on the island, but after this, lots of strategizing should be used. The best way to defeat Shogun X is to keep an eye on his moveset, as much of it requires being dodged. Keeping your distance and utilizing headshots is a key part of this fight.

One benefit is that the moves are clearly telegraphed, and there is a repeated cycle that the moves follow. The "Sword Slash" move requires you to sprint to the side to dodge as he dashes across the arena. '

Shogun X's Oni Fireballs can be easily dodged by sprinting or building a quick wall to block the fireballs. The easiest attack to dodge is the AoE fire blasts, which present the best opportunity to shoot freely at Shogun X whenever you are in a safe area.

Several rewards can drop from defeating Shogun X while roaming and then later when he is within the Shogun X Arena. There are six Mythic Weapons in Fortnite that can be obtained when players defeat Shogun X, including the Mythic Typhoon Blade, Shogun X's Fire Oni Mask, Enhanced Fury Assault Rifle, Enhanced Sentinel Pump Shotgun, Enhanced Twinfire Auto Shotgun, and the Enhanced Oni Shotgun.

The mask and blade are the only items that exclusively drop at Shogun's Arena after defeating Shogun X on the island before the end of the match. Typically, these only drop once a round, but with Shogun X's roaming capabilities, it is possible for more than one to drop in Fortnite.
