Warning! SPOILERS Follow for Avengers: Infinity War!
Avengers: Infinity War villain Thanos has landed in Fortnite: Battle Royale. If gamers play just right they might be able to step into the gigantic boots and Infinity Gauntlet of the Mad Titan. It's the first big (or official) cross-promotion for Fortnite. Although various skins in the game share an uncanny resemblance to famous characters. Season 3 of Fortnite added characters that looked awfully similar to John Wick and Guardians of the Galaxy's Star-Lord. This is coming with the official sanction of Marvel Studios.
Fortnite has added Thanos, as well as a special mode called Infinity War, as a part of the weekly update 1.59. The Infinity War mode will only last for limited time yet those who participate in it will find one of the weirdest, most unique and (purposely) broken modes in Fortnite: Battle Royale. Thanos doesn't turn Fortnite into a perfectly balanced world (as all things should be) and half the players are immediately eliminated. Instead, Thanos destroys anyone and anything in his path.

The basics of Fornite's Infinity War mode are pretty simple. It begins just like any solo Fortnite match (Infinity War is only available for solo players, no squads or even duos) as brawlers dive onto the map and as always, everyone and everything is a threat. The last player standing will win. Everyone is out for themselves.
The twist of the Infinity War mode is that somewhere on the map Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet has appeared. The Gauntlet is up-for-grabs and whoever finds it first will turn into Thanos and this is more than just a cool skin. Thanos comes with a bevy of abilities and powers.
For starters, the health bar of Thanos is seven times that of the average Fortnite player. In addition, Thanos immediately gets shields that are triple the maximum amount. So Thanos is rolling into battle with 700 health and 300 shields though he cannot heal and instead, gains back shields for kills. That's not quite invincible but it might as well be and that's not all the Mad Titan gets to help himself.
The Thanos character isn't able to build or pick up weapons like any other Fortnite player. Instead Thanos has his own move set. There are four special moves that Thanos gets that replaces that of the average Fortnite character. Thanos has access to:
Punch Combo: Replacing Fortnite's pickaxe, Thanos can deliver a series of punches to other players or buildings
Smash: By launching into the air and crashing back to the ground Thanos can deliver a huge wave of destruction
Leap: At the same time, Thanos can jump higher and farther than any other Fortnite player AND cannot receive any fall damage
Beam: The Thanos version of a gun, the beam is a long range attack that fires at any unlucky player
The whole point of the Infinity War mode is for Thanos to be the most powerful person on the map. Yet there is some effort to balance things out, slightly. Although the location of the Infinity Gauntlet is a mystery when each round starts, when it is grabbed Thanos will immediately show up on everyone's radar. Players will know, at all times, where Thanos is located and how they can avoid him.
Once Thanos is activated, loot drops also increase throughout the mode for other players. While players might not have access to the Infinity Gauntlet they will be able to get a huge arsenal to help take Thanos down. Once Thanos is defeated, assuming he's not the second-to-last player in the match, the Infinity Gauntlet is dropped and someone else can take it over and become Thanos.
Obviously the Infinity War mode heavily favors the player who is Thanos. In any serious way, the game is totally broken. Thanos has such a huge advantage over everyone else but that's the benefit of playing him. It's going to take a lot of effort to bring Thanos down but unlike the real Infinity War, defeating him is possible. It just requires a lot of effort and possible teamwork from other players.
Although since Infinity War doesn't turn off damage that other players can do to each other, working together requires a lot of faith and hope in strangers. A complete rarity in the ruthless world of Fortnite. And since few players get the chance to wield the power of the six Infinity Stones, Epic Games has already announced that they are looking at and will make changes.
