Turn 10 Studios did something different with Forza Motorsport 8 by making you level up your cars. In prior games, you could just spend credits to upgrade cars, which was a straightforward and meaningless method for growing your garage. However, you have to level your car by using it to unlock upgrades. Furthermore, upgrades have their own currency, separate from the credits you use to purchase new vehicles.

Safe to say, a lot has changed in Forza Motorsport 8. That's why, in addition to knowing how to level up cars quickly, you will also want to know how to earn car points quickly and which upgrades to buy first. After all, they are all tied together. Nonetheless, the base pillar is leveling your car, so it should be your first priority.

How To Level Your Car Fast

In Forza Horizon Motorsport 8, cars can be leveled up to 50. However, getting there will take significant Car XP (CXP). Finishing on the podium or completing a Great or Good Track Segment will earn you more CXP in a race. Having said that, there are ways to milk your races for even more CXP.

Start In The Back

You gain additional Car XP by overtaking cars in races. So, if you start last, there's a lot of potential car XP to be gained through overtakes. This can be a double-edged sword because it can result in a poor race result; however, you can always restart the race to get a better finish. Furthermore, ing cars from the back is simple because they tend to be slower, and the cluster of cars allows many windows to overtake.

We Talking About Practice?

You should focus on practice whenever possible. More specifically, the pre-race practices that most players choose to forego. You earn Car XP for completing practice races, roughly equivalent to the amount of Car XP earned for completing the actual race. You can easily 1.5x your Car XP throughout your career by simply participating in practice races.

Participating in practice races will most likely lead to an improved performance in the actual race, earning you even more Car XP.

Cheese Method To Leveling Cars Fast

If you don't want to do things the hard way, there is a method to cheese leveling up cars in Forza Motorsport 8. As outlined by AR12Gaming on YouTube, you can auto-farm Car XP and even Car Points in practice sessions by enabling driving assists and letting the computer do the work.

For this method to work, you will want to jump into Free Play mode and select Advanced Event Setup. Then, select Circuit as the Game Type and choose Le Mans - Circuit International de la Sarthe with Track Layout set to Old Mulsanne Circuit. Choose your number of desired laps, set the Driveatar Count to zero, and enter the racetrack.

Before you start the race, open up the Difficulty tab in the pre-race menu and set it to Club Rules. After that, go to the Setting tab, and under Driving Assists, change all the following options:

  • Suggested Line: Full
  • Braking: Fully Assisted
  • Throttle: Assisted
  • Steering: Fully Assisted
  • Allow manual steering into pit: off
  • Traction Control: off
  • Stability Control: off
  • Shifting: Automatic: Automatic

There are a couple of issues players run into using this method. The first is the idle notification that pops up every 15 minutes and stops you from racing. To counter this, open the Telemetry menu by pressing the d-pad, selecting "Friction," and then leaving the window open. The AI should still drive your car in the background, and the idle notification will no longer pop up.

The other issue players face applies solely to Xbox gamers. Their console will enter the "Away State" if they aren't touching their control, which will stop your game. To avoid this, navigate to Xbox Settings > Preferences > Idle Options > and uncheck the "Show me things" box.

By using the tricks mentioned above and having this cheese method in your back pocket, leveling cars will be a cakewalk. Combine that with the tricks for earning money fast in Forza Motorsport 8, and you will buy, level, and upgrade cars very fast.
