Found started as a powerful investigative procedural where Gabrielle “Gabi” Mosely, the survivor of a kidnapping, creates a crisis management team to help locate the type of missing people that society often forgets or ignores, but its powerful premise is getting lost in the shuffle In Found season 1, Gabi was keeping a secret: she had Sir, the man who held her captive as a teenager, chained in her basement and solicits his opinion to help solve cases. The team at Mosely & Associates saw Gabi as a savior, but Gabi’s confession after Sir escaped turns them against her.
Gabi keeping Sir prisoner in her house was an interesting high-concept moral gray area, since Found star promising more dark turns to come.
Found’s Premise Of Featuring Disenfranchised Victims Is Getting Lost
Found Season 2 Is Imbalanced Towards Sir’s Story
Found’s biggest strength is its focus on victims and cases the media tends to overlook. Found season 1 featured compelling episodes that spotlighted immigration issues, disability within the foster care system, and mental health in unhoused populations. Gabi's secret captivity of Sir added an element of suspense that elevated the procedural nature of the show, but each episode remained centered on the victim of the week. Sir’s escape created a “no going back” moment that shifted focus away from the problems Found season 1 highlighted so beautifully.
Sir’s Freedom In Found Season 2 Is Overly Complicated & His Plan Makes No Sense
Sir Told Gabi He Would “Fix” Her Team But Has Yet To Help
The Mosely & Associates team was completely disillusioned with Gabi when she confessed to holding Sir hostage, creating a rift that already further pulled focus from the cases. Sir held Lacey Quinn captive, Gabi’s surrogate sister and fellow childhood kidnapping survivor, in the first three episodes of Found season 2, but after, the show could have returned to its case-of-the-week nature, but instead it kept expanding Sir's storyline. Christian Evans, Sir’s brother, is brought in to advise Gabi, only for the show to reveal he is playing both sides.

Sir told Gabi he would “fix” everyone on her team so she would be free to be with him, which would have been interesting. This foreshadowed him potentially finding Margaret Reed’s missing son or helping cure Zeke Williams of his agoraphobia, but halfway through Found season 2, Sir has only further traumatized Lacey and Zeke. Sir insists to Christian, Gabi, and an unknown accomplice that Gabi will come with him willingly to Europe, but given Gabi’s vocal hatred of him, his belief seems delusional.
New episodes of Found air Thursdays at 10 p.m. Eastern on NBC and stream next day on Peacock.
Found season 2, episode 10, "Missing While Outed,” shows Sir speaking on the phone to a currently unrevealed associate, so Sir’s storyline is only going to get more complicated in the back half of season 2. Gabi’s team has finally united to help destroy the evidence that could send her to jail for holding Sir in her basement. Without the looming threat of arrest, and with the M&A team working cohesively for the first time all season, the show now has room to refocus on victims' stories, as it did so effectively in Found season 1.
