The massive success of Cheers spin-off Frasier disproves major concerns regarding its reboot. One of the most beloved sitcoms of all time, Frasier started life as nothing more than a spin-off itself, but it soon became one of the most popular shows of its era. Furthermore, Frasier's success has extended far beyond its original run, with a cult following who continue to enjoy the sitcom decades after its finale aired.

It's that very success that led to the announcement of a reboot. Though the Frasier reboot's development is taking a long time, and the finished product is still a way off, there seems to be cause for concern regarding the show's future. What's more, Kelsey Grammer has hinted that he may be the only cast member returning, which is something that seemingly dooms the reboot before it's even been made.

However, there's actually no reason to worry about the Frasier reboot because the original being a spin-off eases some of the biggest concerns regarding the show's revival. The reboot's apparent premise so far appears to be strikingly similar to the one the character found himself in after Cheers - moving to a new city without any familiar faces. Though the Frasier reboot would benefit from returning characters, its quality isn't contingent upon them, so Grammer's comments shouldn't be a reason to write the reboot off so soon.

Frasier Only Needed Kelsey Grammer – The Reboot Is In Safe Hands

Frasier Crane

Grammer's comments about the reboot have sparked concerns, as has David Hyde Pierce by explaining that he may not return for the reboot at all. However, both actors have referenced the fact that the key to Frasier's success was always Frasier himself, and that's something that Grammer is directly responsible for. As Kelsey Grammer was able to successfully reinvent Frasier Crane after Cheers, he's already proven that he's capable of making the character work in new situations with a new ing cast.

Though Frasier's ing cast was a large part of the show's success, they weren't the only important element of the show. While the hints that the ing cast may not return for the Frasier reboot might seem like a mistake, the fact that Grammer alone has faith in the project should be enough to ease the worst concerns. After all, Grammer's character was the only real element that Frasier borrowed from the massively successful Cheers, and he was able to secure the spin-off as one of the greatest sitcoms of all time.

Whether or not any of Frasier's ing cast will return with Grammer for the reboot remains to be seen. However, the quality of the writing and the translation of what made Frasier work in the first place is the key, and that's not something that was ever limited solely to its cast. If Kelsey Grammer's Frasier Crane was able to start over anew after Cheers and go on to make Frasier one of the most beloved sitcoms ever made, there's absolutely no reason to believe that the reboot can't be equally great.
