Paul Feig's classic Freaks & Geeks might have been canceled in 2000 but it remains a cult favorite. It's a classic story of high school, full of all the moments of delight and humiliation that we all experienced. It's also the show that launched a thousand careers: Linda Cardellini, Busy Philipps, James Franco, John Francis Daly, Seth Rogen, and Jason Segel all starred in this cult classic in the early stages of their Hollywood careers.

We all recognize the stereotypes that these characters inhabit: Daniel Desario’s lazy bad boy; Sam Weir’s earnest young nerd; Kim Kelly’s tough girl with a heart of gold. Chances are you've got a favorite character already. But which character are you the most like, based on your MBTI personality type?

 INTP - Logician: Bill Haverchuck

Did you get lost in thought analyzing your options for this list? You’re probably most like Bill Haverchuck. This classic Logician loves patterns, is detail-oriented, and likes to investigate any claim made to him (examining Cindy’s vinyl chair, anyone?). He considers the logic of sci-fi, but also asks Neal how to correctly kiss a girl. Bill is enthusiastic, open-minded, and honest, all qualities that make him a great friend to people like Neal and Sam. He can be a little too private, and probably comes off as absent-minded, but who wouldn’t like to be able to watch a movie in their head?

 ENTJ - Commander: Neal Schweiber

Do you find yourself plowing ahead and solving problems quickly? Neal Schweiber might be the Geek you’re most similar to. Neal has absolute confidence in himself and loves to meet new people, even if he’s socially inept.

He’s a Commander—he wants to climb the social ladder, kiss the hottest girl, be in charge of big groups, and sway opinions. He can be arrogant and impatient because he’s always sure that he’s right. When he encounters conflict, Neal either tries to prove why he’s right, or flatter the other person until they give in to his desires. But he’s a generous and loyal friend to Sam and Bill.

 ESFP - Entertainer: Nick Andopolis

If you’re generally the life of the party, you might be most like Nick Andopolis. Though Daniel is the alpha male, Nick is the most outgoing of the Freaks, and the most emotionally intelligent.

He’s squarely an Entertainer—he even wants to be a famous musician, and can’t it that he needs another long-term backup plan. He’s original and bold, and not afraid to go against the grain, as we see when he gets into disco late in the series. Nick is also protective, especially of Lindsay, but very sensitive and surprisingly conflict-averse. He’d rather smoke pot than deal with difficult emotions. His lack of focus and wishy-washy approach to planning are probably why his father wants him to go into the military.

ISTJ - The Logistician: Ken Miller

If people sometimes think you’re withdrawn and uninterested when really you’re just observing and learning, you might have a lot in common with Ken Miller. The Logistician of the Freaks, Ken is practical, analytical, and reserved.

He is by far the quietest, but that doesn’t mean he’s not paying attention. He’s the first to notice when the beer at Lindsay’s party is switched to non-alcoholic, and he decides to make some money instead of telling everyone. He is a devoted partner, but falls prey to overanalyzing, endlessly worrying over a secret his girlfriend Amy reveals. He sometimes struggles to connect emotionally, so we see him ask Daniel for dating advice. Ken doesn’t take criticism well though, and once he’s made up his mind, the matter is closed.

ISTP - The Virtuoso: Daniel Desario

If you’re also an ISTP, you probably recognized a kindred spirit in Daniel immediately. With his love for exploration, it’s unsurprising that Daniel is a Virtuoso personality. He loves to try new things, but he can’t imagine spending his life on anything that he can’t see and touch.

He’s incredibly curious, like when he discovers A/V and repairs the projector. But he’s also pragmatic to a fault—why study when you can just steal the answers? Despite being very private and reserved, Daniel can be both spontaneous and rational, and he is able to go with the flow. But his curiosity leads him into risky behavior, and when he’s bored (which is often) he can become insensitive and even abandon his previous commitments.

ESTP - The Entrepreneur: Kim Kelly

The Kim we first meet is brash and even mean, but as she befriends Lindsay she mellows out and we start to see a troubled girl with a heart of gold. If you’re charming and like to live on the edge, you might be an Entrepreneur type like her.

Kim is blunt and always up for a good time, and largely uninterested in abstract theory. She very independent, but to a fault, and her love for new things means she can be impatient, lack focus, and sometimes misses the bigger picture. The most exciting adventure of her life begins the day she s Lindsay on their adventure to follow the Grateful Dead.

ESFJ - The Consol: Sam Weir

Are you a friendly and enthusiastic leader? You might be like Sam Weir, the leader of his group of Geeks and a Consul to the bone. He is empathetic and very altruistic. He puts everyone else’s needs first, going so far as to reach out and befriend Daniel Desario and helping him do better in school. He is very emotionally attached to his past and is a staunch upholder of rules.

Doing anything where he can be of service is fulfilling to him, but his desire to help hurts him with his love interest, Cindy. His respect for authority sometimes blinds him to logic, like with his mother, and his helpful heart means he sometimes gets pushed around.

INFJ - The Idealist: Lindsay Weir

If you’re a tireless and idealistic Advocate type, then you’re most like Lindsay Weir. Like Lindsay, you might have clear ideas about right and wrong… that might differ from other people’s sometimes. Her independence is why her parents think she’s a delinquent but the other Freaks think she’s a goody-two-shoes. She prioritizes academics, and math especially appeals to her love of clear answers.

She wants to fit in with the Freaks, but she’s shy and sensitive to sharp criticism. Her practical judging traits mean she likes to stick to firm plans, and is uncomfortable with more pointless rebellions, like skipping class. She and Kim are complete opposites, but once they learn to communicate they help the other find a little balance.
