NBC's considered the funniest of all the friends, thanks to his sarcasm and witty one-liners.
Chandler has done some nice things for his friends, particularly Joey, and some, which were not so nice. So, here are 5 times Chandler was a terrible friend, and 5 times we wish he was our friend.
Worst - Kissed Joey's Girlfriend
In the season 4 storyline, Joey starts dating Kathy, an actress, whom Chandler develops feelings for. It's clear that Kathy, too, has feelings for him. In the episode, "The One Where Chandler Crosses The Line," he and Kathy kiss, and both feel terrible about it.
When Chandler tells Joey about it, he gets understandably upset, and the only way Chandler can make it up to him is by climbing in a wooden box and staying inside till Joey is satisfied.
Best - Got Phoebe A Job
Phoebe has always done odd jobs to earn money, sometimes asking her friends for help, or singing, driving a catering van with Monica, being a masseuse, and being an extra on Days Of Our Lives, a job that Joey got for her.
In the season 1 episode, "The One With The Ick Factor," Phoebe is looking to make some extra money, so Chandler gets her a job as his assistant. Phoebe tells him how his friends resent him a little due to him being promoted, which he initially gets upset about, but later uses to his advantage to alleviate his workload.
Worst - Slept With Joey's Sister
Perhaps the worst things Chandler has ever done was in the season 3 episode, "The One Where Chandler Can't Which Sister" when he makes out with one of Joey's sisters, and, well, can't which one.
After getting dumped by Janice, Chandler gets completely wasted at Joey's birthday party and ends up kissing Mary-Ann, one of Joey's sisters (who he ends up forgetting). He then spends the rest of the episode trying to figure out which sister it was.
Best - Gave Joey His Gift To Kathy
Since most of Joey's relationships were one-night stands, he wasn't really the gift-giving type. However, during season 4, while he is dating Kathy, the group convinces him to get her a birthday gift, which he took to mean a pen (which was also a clock).
Chandler got Kathy her favorite book, a rare edition of The Velveteen Rabbit, but he ends up giving it to Joey to gift to Kathy, so he doesn't look bad. And even though he does go on to kiss her while she was still with Joey, this was definitely a sweet thing to do for his friend.
Worst - Lost Baby Ben On The Bus
In "The One With The Baby On The Bus," Chandler and Joey are given the responsibility of looking after Ben when Ross has to be rushed to the doctor for a shot. Joey, of course, tries to use Ben to pick up chicks, and the guys end up losing him on the bus while trying to pick up some girls.
While, technically, the fault lies with both Joey and Chandler for losing the baby, Joey was definitely not someone who could be trusted around babies, so Chandler probably could have been a little more careful.
Best - Convinces Erica To Give Monica Her Baby
In the season 10 episode, "The One With The Birth Mother," Monica and Chandler pretend to be other people to get Erica, a pregnant girl, to give them her child. After they it to faking their identities, Erica refuses to give them her baby, at which point Chandler goes to talk to her privately.
He tells her that he regrets not being able to give Monica a child and he'll try his best to be the best father he can be and tells her how Monica is such a great mom without even having a kid. It's great to see Chandler so expressive and sweet, especially since he's so goofy and sarcastic most of the time.
Worst - Slept During Joey's Movie Premiere
Chandler has always ed Joey and his acting career, although there are a few times when he shows little confidence in him, such as when he refuses to let Joey believe that a small budget movie is his big break.
In "The One Where Rachel Is Late," Joey only has one ticket for his movie premiere and invites Chandler, as a thank you for all his . However, Chandler falls asleep during the movie, which obviously upsets Joey.
Best - Makes Up Cups To Help Out Joey
After he moves in with Monica, Chandler is worried about leaving Joey high and dry and tries to give him some money to pay the bills. Joey, however, refuses to take his money, and Chandler is forced to come up with an alternative.
He makes up a game called Cups, and "loses" all his money to Joey, so he can manage without him. It's an extremely nice thing to do and reminds viewers that Chandler has always looked out for Joey, be it paying for his acting classes or pay for his headshots.
Worst - Posted That Ross Has Sex With Dinosaurs (And Is Dead)
Chandler is not one to hesitate from pulling a prank, but he takes it too far in "The One With The Memorial Service." After Chandler posts that 'Ross has sex with dinosaurs' on their college forum, Ross retaliates by posting that Chandler is gay.
Chandler takes it one step further and posts that Ross is dead, which was frankly a terrible thing to do. Not only did he play with the emotions of his former college mates, but he must also have given a terrible fright to his family, who must've received alarming phone calls about his "death."
Best - Comforts Rachel After Her Parents Have a Divorce
Chandler has a hilarious backstory about the divorce of his parents (which also led him to hate Thanksgiving), and so, in "The One With Two Parties," when Rachel finds out her parents are getting a divorce, he consoles her.
Chandler is so often shown to be the goofy, sarcastic, and awkward dork that viewers can sometimes forget how understanding and nice Chandler actually is. The scene does a great job of showing Chandler's sweet side.
