Between the How I Met Your Mother appear to be doing great right now. This is not a shock, as both shows have devoted fans to this day and were able to use the setup of friends in New York and take it in many directions.

With both shows airing for nearly a decade each, they were able to have some very memorable characters in both their main and ing cast. Some of them feel like they could make a sitcom of their own.

Ross & Barney

Ross and Barney

Many people may immediately connect Barney Stinson with Joey, as both characters are known for their wandering eyes. However, due to Barney's own insecurities, he would likely not enjoy Joey, who he would see as a threat. Instead, Ross Geller may be the perfect friend for him.

Ross and Barney actually have a lot in common. While both are immensely loyal to their friends, both men have been toxic in their relationships, something that stems from relationships gone wrong in the past. Barney would likely see Ross like he sees Ted, but both men may find out they have more in common than they could have ever thought, such as the love of Star Wars.

Chandler & Marshall

Marshall and Chandler

Unlike the previous match, these two make perfect sense. In many ways, Marshall and Chandler are alike, especially after Chandler marries Monica. Both are "wife guys" without even trying. In addition, both have great senses of humor and often have witty comebacks, so they would definitely make each other laugh.

Marshall coming from a stable home may be the only issue, due to Chandler having very serious issues with his parents. But, Marshall has shown through his marriage to Lily and some very sweet quotes, that he can show comion to those who did not have the same luxuries that he did growing up. This could change everything for Chandler.

Lily & Rachel

Lily and Rachel

Much like Joey and Barney, Lily would likely feud over control of the group with Monica. As a result, Rachel would be a more likely friend for her. While she has an eccentric personality that can rival Phoebe, both she and Rachel love shopping, both leave a member of the group then return to the group, and go on to pursue dreams in artistic fields.

Lily, much like Monica would be a great influence in the life of Rachel since she cares so much. She would love to make sure Rachel gets her life together after leaving the altar. Rachel, on the other hand, would be someone who could keep Lily's more impulsive and controlling habits to a minimum, keeping her own independence in the process.

Carl & Gunther

Carl and Gunther

Both of these men see their show's respective friend group every day, yet are never really involved with them. Yet both have a great idea of what is going on in these people's lives. Just by having similar jobs and roles on the show, there could be interesting conversations between Carl and Gunther.

Both men have been upset by the lack of attention from the group, Carl calling out Ted for not knowing his name, while Gunther is in love with Rachel. Perhaps before opening up the pub, Carl can head over to Central Perk and get a coffee and chat with Gunther, talking about everything they have to deal with in their lives.

Joey & James Stinson

Joey and James

While Barney may not like Joey, he would likely respect his game. The same could be said for his brother, James, who like both men, was a notorious flirt before settling down with his husband and becoming a father. James would likely be charmed by Joey's friendly himbo attitude, and while coming to the conclusion that there is nothing there romantically, they could still enjoy an odd friendship.

Joey has shown that he was more open-minded than some sitcom characters of his day, albeit in a way that is problematic by today's standards. Given how ive he is of his friends, he would be the first to try to help James get back together with his husband, as well. He would likely respect how James could attract men, the same way James would respect how Joey attracts women. Instead of having a rivalry, which Barney would try to start, this could be a great pairing of two flirts.

Tracy & Phoebe

Tracy and Phoebe

These two would bond over one thing; they both are musicians. Music played a huge part in both of their lives, their friendships, and their stories. In addition, both are sort of outsiders in their friend groups, Phoebe having no previous connection to the group, while Tracy ed the group much later.

Just by her love of Ted and the gang, it is clear that Tracy likes interesting people. This can also be shown in the episode that focuses on her previous friends before meeting Ted. Phoebe is one of the most interesting people on Friends, and they should strike up a nice friendship.

Jack Geller & Alfred Mosby

Jack and Alfred

The embarrassing dads of the show would likely get along better than Jack Gellar would with most other parents. Jack is an inappropriate old man who makes comments that show how far he is behind in the times. Alfred is a recently divorced man who is trying desperately to catch up to the times. They would have something to bond over with that.

Geller would likely respect Mosby's game with much younger women, and would likely have some very problematic comments to make about his already problematic situation. On a brighter note, both men tried to be great fathers to their kids, although Judy and Jack clearly favored Ross over Monica. They can both be proud of their children, who have grown up to be very successful. However, this would be a friendship that would bring out the worst in both men.

Joey & Robin

Robin and Joey

In addition to befriending his brother, Joey might also befriend Barney's wife. Regardless of their ulterior motives, Robin does not get along with most girls and has always been better with men, socially. Joey would enjoy a lot of Robin's interests, such as her love of hockey, and would immediately form a connection with her.

Both have also been prominently featured on television, one as an actor and one as a reporter. Joey would also likely love a strong woman as a friend, as shown by both his sisters and his friendship with Phoebe. Barney would definitely be jealous of Joey, but his family would just adore him.

Emily & Victoria

Emily and Victoria

There are some very noteworthy similarities between Emily and Victoria -- namely, both of them wanted their significant other to stop being friends with one of the girls in the group due to their obvious feelings for them. When they refuse, both end their relationships, and that identical experience may just be enough to bond both women.

Also, both had second thoughts at the altar with their previous loves. They could bond over them getting involved in a toxic situation and truly not being able to have their happy endings with those men, as a result. Both of them did not have any true path with these friend groups that could connect them.
