The phenomenally popular sitcom relive some of the most heartwarming moments of this beloved series.
Each character had an array of memorable moments in the course of the series. Although some, like Joey Tribbiani, had more than the others. Whether it was Joey giving Phoebe her perfect kiss, or Ross waling his ex-wife down the aisle for her next wedding, and Phoebe getting a magical wedding, some images will stay with fans forever.
Ross Gives Up Being On TV For Rachel
Ross's unresolved feelings for Rachel formed a major part of the Ross-Rachel storyline. In season 3, the two had broken up but of course, Ross still adored Rachel Greene.
In 'The One With The Chick And The Duck', Ross comes by Monica and Rachel's apartment and finds the latter unable to properly move, because of a possible rib fracture. Rachel asks him to stay back and help her get ready for a work event and naturally he just can't say no. Ross stays back until quite late, helping Rachel put her makeup on and then get ready knowing very well that he is missing being on TV for the Discovery Channel. This one kind of made up for all the many cringe-worthy Ross moments on the show.
One Proposal & Lots Of Tears
Another very lovely moment that fans will always recall was the one where Monica proposed to Chandler. Well, she started to, until she began crying hysterically which is when Chandler took over, only to cry hysterically himself.
Chandler has spent the entire day running around town looking for a ring to propose. He even went to see Richard Burke who has told him once and for all that he wouldn't fight him for Monica. And when he finally comes home, there is Monica inside their beautifully lit apartment, waiting to propose.
Ross Walks His Ex-wife Down The Aisle
Ross Geller came with a lot of baggage, stereotyping attitudes towards gender roles, and body shaming. However, his decision to walk his ex-wife, Carol, down the aisle for her wedding to Susan was irable.
Carol's family wasn't on board with her coming out as a lesbian and refused to attend her wedding at the last minute. Ross, who never had any qualms about letting everyone know how he had been hurt by his first wife, then stepped in and agreed to walk her down the aisle, which was really rather sweet.
Chandler Comes Home
Chandler Bing was probably the only one of the friends that got the most evolution during the course of the show. His decision to quit his job might have been impulsive but it was touching, to say the least.
After a misunderstanding in office, Chandler has to leave to manage a team in Tulsa, while Monica stays back to pursue her dream job in NY. What is heartwarming is that Chandler comes home on Christmas to be with his wife and realizes he doesn't want to do the long-distance relationship, instead quitting his job to be close to his wife.
Phoebe's Dreamy Wedding
Fans will agree that Phoebe Buffay gets the most perfect wedding in the series. She gets to marry the man she loves and who adores her in return on a snow-laden street, looking ethereal, and in the presence of her best friends who are practically family.
Chandler walks Phoebe down the aisle, which is heartfelt in itself. Then Phoebe and Mike exchange their vows which are absolutely adorable, especially Mike's where he describes Phoebe exactly the way she is and why fans love her.
Joey Gives Phoebe The Perfect Kiss
Joey Tribbiani had some of the most beautiful moments on the show that fans recall fondly. One such moment comes when Joey gives Phoebe her perfect kiss.
In 'The One Where They All Turn Thirty', Phoebe is upset that she hadn't yet had the perfect kiss along with a bunch of other very 'Phoebe' stuff that she hadn't achieved by then. As she leaves, Joey gets up and follows her out, asks her to close her eyes, and then gives her a kiss that actually does look like it could melt a few hearts. If that isn't heartwarming, then nothing is.
Joey Helps A Pregnant Stranger
Another Joey moment that fills fans' hearts with warmth and fondness for this character happens when Joey gets talking to a random pregnant woman, Lydia, in the hospital while the rest of the gang waited for Carol to give birth.
The two argue about the Knicks game and somehow develop an immediate connection. Joey stays back to help her through her delivery, getting ahead of himself in his enthusiasm. By the time he comes back with balloons and a toy after she had delivered, the baby's father has arrived. Joey hears the lady acknowledge his presence and she even seems to have developed a soft spot for the Knicks. He knows better than to go in, instead simply tying the balloons to the door handle and taking the toy away with him.
Joey Tells Chandler To Run After Cathy
Yet another moving moment that involves Joey comes when Cathy comes to tell Chandler that she is breaking up with him because she cannot stand how she is coming between him and Joey.
Chandler is inside a huge box to prove what Joey's friendship means to him. After Cathy leaves, Joey gives the most heartening reaction. He rushes to release his friend from his prison, hugs him while mumbling gibberish, and urges him to run after Cathy as he can still catch her. There is a reason why Joey Tribbiani is probably the most iconic of the friends.
Phoebe & Her Triplets
One iconic scene that has stayed in fans' hearts forever is Phoebe Buffay holding her triplets in her arms and speaking to them as she gets ready to hand them over to her half-brother, Frank Jr.
The scene was one of the most powerful ones in the series, and definitely the most memorable involving the great Phoebe Buffay. Phoebe had wanted to keep one of the babies at the last minute but that was not to be, so she needed to say goodbye. As she bade her babies farewell, fans felt both a sense of pride and a rush of warm affection for this wonderfully weird character.
The Last One
The last one before they all parted ways has to be included in this list for that is the image that fans were left with as their favorite friends said goodbye to them forever. There's no doubt that there weren't many dry eyes both on and off set during that particular episode.
As the Bings walked in with their twins and were welcomed by their friends, fans knew that the final few moments had kicked in. The six friends each leave their copy of the key to Monica's apartment, the familiar apartment now bare and empty as all the friends, except perhaps Joey, start getting ready for a new beginning.
