Drama - The Last One
The last episode of Friends is one of the most tear-jerking and dramatic episodes of the entire series. Not only were fans sad to see the show come to an end, but it included one of the most edge-of-seat moments—waiting to see if Rachel would get off the plane.
This episode is the classic tale of the dramatic chase moment where one person tries to stop the other from leaving but is always one step behind. Ross realizes he still loves Rachel but is too late to stop her from getting on her plane to Paris. Fans watch in agony as he finally calls her and confesses his love, but will she get off the plane in time? Not only do fans have to say goodbye to their favorite characters in this episode, but it has some of the best anticipating drama.
Romance - The One With The Proposal Part 2
Undoubtedly, one of the most romantic Friends episodes is Chandler and Monica's proposal. The much anticipated and slow-building relationship finally comes to its defining moments, and it's one of the most heartwarming scenes of the series.
"The One With The Proposal" is split into two parts, but the best moment happens in the second part. After a back and forth of Monica questioning their relationship and Chandler being too scared to and unsure how to go about the proposal, the two finally meet together in Monica's candle-lit apartment. She is down on her knees, ready to propose instead of him but is too emotional to get the words out. Chandler s her on the floor, and together they confess their mutual love.
Comedy - The One Where No One's Ready
While all episodes of Friends are comedic and silly, some happen to be just a little bit funnier than others. "The One Where No One's Ready" is full of chaotic pranks and jokes from the characters and priceless accidents that seem to keep happening left and right.
Ross tries to get all the friends to prepare for an important event at the museum. Chandler and Joey pointlessly fight over a living room chair, trying to beat each other to the seat. Monica tries to interpret a voicemail left by her ex, Rachel can't decide what to wear, and Phoebe, the only one ready other than Ross, gets hummus on her dress. This episode contains some of the funniest moments, including one of the most iconic moments where Joey dons all of Chandler's clothes and lunges about in them.
Action - The One With The Ride-Along
While viewers may not find the most life-threatening action in any episodes, some elements of action mixed in with the usual humorous tone of the show. "The One With The Ride-Along" involves the boys ing Phoebe's cop boyfriend, Gary, in his police car as he patrols around the city.
When Ross, Chandler, and Joey mistake a car backfiring for a gunshot, the three all react in a sudden moment of impulse. Joey dives in front of Ross to protect him, which leaves Chandler confused why he would choose to save Ross instead of him, seeing as they were best friends and roommates. They come to find out later that Joey wasn't trying to protect Ross at all, but rather his favorite meatball sub—which is why Joey's love for food is one of the funniest running gags on Friends.
Tragedy - The One With Rachel's Going Away Party
"The One With Rachel's Going Away Party" is hardly one of the best parties in Friends, but rather one of the saddest episodes. This was the second to last episode of the series, and the goodbyes were genuine and heartbreaking for the cast and the fans alike.
After painful moments of packing up Monica's apartment and all the friends trying not to be emotional, Rachel pulls the friends in one by one to say proper goodbyes to each one. Each goodbye felt genuine and heartwrenching as the cast was actually crying and upset about the show's close. As Rachel deliberately skips over Ross in her goodbyes, fans see one of the most romantic and tearful scenes when the two it how hard it is to see each other go and share a kiss.
Mystery - The One With The Red Sweater
"The One With The Red Sweater" is the perfect episode for mystery lovers with bits of hidden secrets and mysterious elements. Rachel is pregnant, but the girls don't know who the father could be. All they have is, as a clue is, a red sweater that was left behind in the apartment.
The friends attempt to find the owner of the red sweater and figure out the truth of who Rachel's mysterious lover is. It will keep viewers guessing until the very end with some silly twists and turns along the way. At the same time, Ross and Chandler attempt to react to the wedding reception pictures that they believe are lost. The truth of the baby daddy's identity is shockingly relieved at the end, and Chandler and Ross find out Monica had all the lost photos after all.
Rom Coms - The One With All The Wedding Dresses
This fun, chick-flick feel of the episode "The One With All The Wedding Dresses has relatable moments for girls as Monica, Phoebe, and Rachel all try on wedding dresses and imagine what it could be like to have a wedding of their own.
Monica is supposed to pick up Emily's wedding dress for her and Ross' wedding, but she decides to try on the dress just for fun. All the girls grow jealous of the idea of Ross getting married and start to imagine what it would be like for them. Rachel realizes she doesn't like the idea of Ross getting married cause she always pictured them together, which leads to all the girls dres in wedding dresses together to comfort her.
Musical - The One Where Monica Sings
Though not actually a full musical episode, the episode "The One Where Monica Sings" still has some elements of music and singing. The gang attends a karaoke party where Monica musters enough confidence to take the stage.
Phoebe and Mike invite Chandler and Monica out to a karaoke bar where Mike plays the piano. Monica is too afraid to take the stage for most of the night but finally decides to give it a try. She receives more praise and cheers than expected and believes she is talented. However, Phoebe and Chandler realize that her singing isn't what's drawing attention to her.
Horror - The One Where They're Up All Night
Although "The One Where They're Up All Night" isn't exactly a horror movie by any means, it has some themes that could make for a spooky time. Viewers certainly won't be able to get Ross and Joey's too-close-for-comfort interaction out of their heads for a while.
The episode begins with Ross inviting everyone up to the roof for a rare comet sighting. When everybody takes off, he and Joey are the only ones left behind. They soon came to find that the door was locked from the inside, and they were stuck on the roof. They have to find a way to escape, leading to extreme tactics. At the same time, Phoebe keeps getting awoken to the sound of a fire alarm beeping, which she attempts to get rid of to get some sleep.
Sporty - The One With The Football
"The One With The Football" is easily one of the best episodes, according to Reddit. It's one of the most sporty episodes where we see all of the friends participate in a football game in the park. This friendly game turns into a major competition between Monica and Ross.
This friendly game of football is a humorous interaction between all the friends. While some take it more seriously than others, they all put their own unique flair and twist into it—the girls distracting the boys with seduction and the boys using their strength as an advantage. It becomes the ultimate competition for Monica and Ross when the two both wrestle over the football and refuse to be the first to let go, leading to the others leaving and a burnt Thanksgiving turkey.
