We speak to Jamie McGuire about his role as Smiley on From and bringing the menacing terror of his character into the show's story.
Jamie McGuire Talks From Season 2
Screen Rant: How would you say Smiley's story has evolved in From season 2?
Jamie McGuire: I'm not really sure how Smiley's story evolved, but I'm pretty sure that since season 1, he's become a more well-known creature. And how the story's going to end, I'm not sure, but that's the great part of a TV series like From. It keeps you guessing every single time.
What were some of the most standout elements about Smiley in From season 2?
Jamie McGuire: I don't really have favorites, the entire storyline with the characters has just been exciting, every day, every episode. The whole experience has been a joy and a thrill.
How would you say the experience of From season 2 has changed, and what elements do you think will resonate the most with viewers in season 2?
Jamie McGuire: I think with season 2, they're starting to figure out more, and it's always kind of interesting to see now that they know more or have certain ideas or certain theories. It's going to be really interesting in season 2 to see what turns that will take.
I think it's going to be interesting to see if they decide if they should interact closely with the creatures. It's going to be interesting to see how that plays out. Will they have answers? Will they still be in fear? I know as much as the viewers do!
Going from that, with your role as Smiley having you know as much as the viewers do about where things are headed, how does that direct how you approach the role of Smiley on From?
Jamie McGuire: Well, as far as I approach the character of Smiley, I just put on a smile, be creepy, and follow direction! And actually, I'm kind of glad I don't know too much ahead, because when the future episodes do air, I like being surprised by it, and I love that, because there's no spoilers and it even keeps me guessing and wondering what's going to happen next.
